A lot of you have been asking for the minimum hardware specs to run Frostbite games, more specifically for Battlefield Bad Company 2 & Battlefield 1943's minimum requirements, and today is the lucky day. Below, you likely skipped ahead and read them already, are the minimum and recommended hardware specs for running BFBC 2 and BF1943.

Minimum Frostbite PC Specifications for BFBC2 & BF1943
Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz
Main memory: 2GB
Graphics card: GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900
Graphics memory: 256MB
OS: Windows XP
Free HDD space: 15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2)
10GB for Digital Version, 4GB for Disc Version (BF1943)

Recommended Frostbite PC Specifications for BFBC2 & BF1943
Processor: Quadcore
Main memory: 2GB
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 260
Graphics memory: 512MB
OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
Free HDD space: 15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2)
10GB for Digital Version, 4GB for Disc Version (BF1943)

I've got the recommended specs at the moment, but hopefully the new Nvidia cards will be out before the game and I can exceed them.

Hmmm, looks like i will have to go back to unlocking 2 cores on my Phenom II 550 then....:D

Until now, its been more than adequate running @ stock speeds as a Dual Core.

because it can't read any data from a disc?

Indeed.

EA Store Digital copies work differently to Steam. Steam is effectively 'installed' once it is downloaded, EA Store basically downloads a disc image and runs it, so you need space for the downloaded files and space for them to install into.

when did you last play a game that read data from a disc?

This. No games need the disk these days.

They do to install ;)

That's the difference. EA Store (which will be the digital version they mean) downloads an 'installer' file of a few GB (Crysis Warhead for example was 7.2GB) which then installs elsewhere onto your hard drive taking up more GB (Crysis Warhead using about 6GB IIRC) so in total to install the digital version of Crysis Warhead you needed at least 13.2GB free space.

There'll be no Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta playing this December, but on the upside, more of you should be able to acquire access keys come the new 2010 start date:

same old anti pc nonsense
