okay i got a BC2 crashing problem ever since i purchased some new ram and installed it, strange thing is after i pulled them back out and put my old set back in the problem is still there.

so first of all my specs:
i7 920 @stock prime 95 stable @ 75c
GPU 4870 512mb furmark stable core@ 55c VRM@ 60c load
mobo: asus p6t se
Hdd: OCz vertex 2 60GB
HDD storage: samsung F1 1Tb

original ram:
1600mhz patriot 6gb @ 1066MHZ - memtest stable
new ram:
1600mhz OCZ 6GB @ 1066mhz memtest stable

at first i had some trouble getting the new ram to work with old ram being different brands and bla bla bla, so i played with the timings and eventually i got it to boot into windows. But along the way it must have crashed a good few times booting up, since i got into windows i didn't think it did any harm.

But since then i started to get BC2 crashes with sound loop where not even ctrl alt del responded, so far they crash randomly within 2 rounds/matches. So i first taken my old ram out and reset cmos, then just testing it with new ram. with no change i assumed the new ram was faulty, so i switched back to my original and it was the same.

so I then did a clean install of windows 7 and all drivers installed and downloaded BC2 from steam and tried again, and it still crashed(this is with the old ram). over night i ran memtest with no errors, this morning for 4 hours it ran furmark and prim95 monitoring temps with core temp and GPUz all seemed fine. I'm completely stomped and now downloading some more games from steam to see if the problem happens with other games.

hi there, what drivers are you using for the 4870?

if its the latest, 11.8 i think , this has crashing problems with bc2...try an older driver....

do you run msi afterburner? as this will cause bc2 to crash after 15 - 20 mins....

just something to think about....

oo ty for this, tbh i have no idea which version is it using i just went to steam and clicked on update AMD card drivers and it did it for me, i check on this in a min :P

and to guy above if you read the whole thing i said i did a clean install already, but it didnt work.

Guys!

Put your thinking caps on please.

The first thing the op has to do is check that the ram and cpu he is using is stable at volts/speed.

It may have been stable with the old ram, but new ram might have different volt requirements or not like the current overclock.

I would recalibrate the cpu overclock if it was me.

But also test other games, a there is a know issue with BFBC2.

as stated in my first post cpu is @ stock therefore no overclock. and as stated after each of my ram i did say memtest stable which suggest that i did test them.
