I read about this company in a thread a few weeks ago and filed the name away in case I ever wanted to swap provider. I'm currently with Tiscali and though their service has been ok, things are starting to annoy me:

1. I don't get close to 8Mbit download speed. I don't do much downloading but I'd like to get what I'm paying for.
2. They've had a few outages recently
3. I got a 'fair play' warning message today because I downloaded a load of Steam files this weekend. I am normally a low-level downloader

I've done some reading on Be, but am hoping people here can offer their personal opinions on the service - I'm specifically interested in how many outages you've experienced and how much downtime there was moving from your old provider to Be.

I love it, actually went from Tiscali to them in October and its a far superior service imo. Downtime has been minimal and the download speeds seem pretty good to me.

I was with Bulldog Broadband but switched to BE about 9 months ago and the service has been flawless. I personally havent experienced any downtime and sync speed is around 12mb (be unlimited 24mb but the distance from my exchange obviously factors in).

Mate I was thinking of the same thing going from Tiscali to BE and basically want to change for the same reasons you, Cept for number 3 are you not on the unlimited package?

im looking into this as well, after getting a nice letter from my ISP at the moment. when it says "unlimited" is it actually, or is it fair usage policy? i assume there is a difference as the "pro" package has 24/7 unlimited?

Its Fair Usage says it on all the deals mate

there customer service is a joke as bad as aol
had a few problems when you phone its some India call center reading from a script which leads you to them saying phone BT then they send you back to BE

in the end made a ticket which took them 3 days to reply to

Don't take this the wrong way but how the hell can you confuse Sofia (which is where the one and only Be call centre is located) with India. The accents are miles apart.

Something tells me you just jumped to a conclusion and don't really know what you're talking about.

I was with Be for about a year when I was living at Uni and never had any major problems with them. Minor issues I had with the BeBox (router) I went to the Be Forums where I found the solutions immediatly, not many ISP's run dedicated forums for their customers. I also used their ticket system when I had to return the box after my contract and I got a response quickly and they sent me a pre paid bag to send it back in. I can't really fault them, £18 a month is cheap for 24Mb broadband (BT charge £25 for up to 8Mb) and their contract is only 3 months so you're not locked with them for a year like most ISP's.

I get 17-19mb with them and think they're superb, however for the past few weeks they have been having quite a few DNS issues. I only got them for the first time over the weekend and it drove me mad. I've yet to even contact their CS.

My DNS has gone down right now, again. AHHHHHH

I rang them up about it (BE) and they told me exactly what to do but I didn't do it yet so maybe I will now.

They are very good for games if thats what your interested in, even on polish servers etc my ping is < 60.
