Be Broadband

Don't get the Netgear DG834N whatever you do lol. It's a very poor model, with very odd behaviour. 90% of the time mine is perfect, but the other 10% just doesn't make sense...and I thought I was alone.

Can anyone get on their site, doesn't seem to working for me. Tried 3 different browsers just incase and still nothing.

Don't take this the wrong way but how the hell can you confuse Sofia (which is where the one and only Be call centre is located) with India. The accents are miles apart.

Something tells me you just jumped to a conclusion and don't really know what you're talking about.

it still doesn't excuse the fact when ive phoned or submitted a ticket the BE customer service rep common answer to a question is 'phone 150'

Be* are the worst ISP that I've had the displeasure of signing with. :p

*actually they're very good but if peeps keep singing and dancing about them - Be* will continue to oversubscribe their capacity resulting in myself and others having to find a new isp (same thing happened with eclipse, pipex, nildram and ndo.)*

Hehe, I know being I'm selfish. :D

So if I move from my current ISP to Be, how long does it take and will there be a period of time when I don't have Internet access at home whilst the "swap over" is taking place?

This talk of DNS issues and random disconnects doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence. With Tiscali I get maybe one disconnect a month (if that) when things are going normally. I play a lot of WoW and a single random disconnect in a 25 man raid can quite easily mean all 25 people doing a corpse run.

Tiscali are the worst ISP around and Be are arguably the best. Just look in the ADSLguide forums for posts by people having switched over. You'd be insane to stick with Tiscali.

1. I don't get close to 8Mbit download speed. I don't do much downloading but I'd like to get what I'm paying for.
2. They've had a few outages recently
3. I got a 'fair play' warning message today because I downloaded a load of Steam files this weekend. I am normally a low-level downloader
All of the above have been experienced by Be users as well, particularly 2) as there were severe outages over the weekend.

When the service is working it's second to none though. If you're an o2 user then sign up with them instead as you'll get the same service for less.

Ah, fair point. I missed that - just saw the 2) bit :)

Nobody on Be has had fair use warnings. The old BeLite service was capped (but not Unlimited) and I know I personally have downloaded hundreds of gigabytes per month in the past with no problems (connection shared amongst 6+ users)

I highly doubt anyone received a fair use warning on Be, me and my housemate downloaded loads of stuff (tens of Gigabytes a day sometimes) and never got any warnings.

Be are excellent, however, the supplied Be router is a bag of crap. My first one stopped working, the second one's wireless functionality is abysmal. Swapped to a netgear dg834gt, which is rock solid, but I only get 8.5mb down with it, whereas I was getting 13mb down on the original Be router.
