mate has new broadband connection with BE. thing is he has to use the router that came with the starter pack, the be box.

question is, can he use his old netgear dg834 router with be internet? he tried to put it in but it doesn;t work. has anyone managed to get a custom router to work with BE internet? if so how is it done?

just and update it works now, the netger DG834G is working on BE internet.
all i had to do was set the neatgears mac address to match that of the BE BOX. and it connected up straight away.

what kind of speeds does he get using the be box and the dg834g? i'm still waiting for mine to be activated and i have the same router..

speeds are both the same with be box and his netgear, just that the be box is crap and netgear router is far superior in many ways.

he is getting 5meg download on his be line. not toooooo shabby better than the intermittant 2meg pipex line he had before.

ive had a few routers to try on my BE line, and agree the be box is better than them all. very nice piece of kit imo.

I have to disagree with you there. I'm using a Netgear DG834N on my Be connection, not only do I get a higher sync speed out the box, it's got better wireless range than the Be box and it's much more reliable.

ok the ones i tried, the BE box has been better, for a bundled router from your isp its very good IMO.
