Be Not Dynamic IP

Why do I not get a dynamic IP with Be even though I am on dynamic allocation?

I power off the router for two days and I still get the same IP everytime.

Are Be unable to provide a true dynamic service?

There is thread in the be forum but it's turned into a 'why do you want dynamic if you have nothing to hide type of thread' so not worth posting there.

Can someone answer why Be dynamic IP is the same even after 2 days. Is there a way to force release / renew the IP?

your mac address will not change as this is set when the network card is manufactured. the mac address can be change manually but its generally not recommended.

Dave I have not posted there as the thread has turned from being a solution request to one of tough cheese sort of thing.

I have just read your posting in that you suggest changing ISP.

I just changed to Be from BT. Near enough each time I powered up the (USB) modem I would get a new IP.

Is there anyway I can do that with Be or failing that which ISP (not AOL and obviously not BT) do provide true dynamic service?

why are you so bothered ?

i requested a static IP from be because i have a NAS box running 24/7 which hosts a media streaming server / web & FTP server etc..

providing you're not trying to avoid getting banned from places, theres no reason having the same IP will provide any problems.

Don't understand any reason you'd even need it; seeing as even if you are doing activities which are against the "law", there will be logs of who is using what IP address at whatever time.

I had wondered how long it would take for this thread to descend to a similar level as on the be forum.

Is there anyone who can give me a solution to this problem?

Can the bebox (any router, usb modem) be configured to give a dynamic IP like I used to get with BT?

Failing that which ISP (except AOL and BT) offer a dynamic IP like I used to get with BT?

If you can not answer either of those questions can I politely ask that you do not post unhelpful comments?

I've seen this sort of post before countless times. There's no good reason to need a dynamic IP (aside from avoiding bans, as mentioned) - the supposed 'security' of a dynamic IP is completely without merit and far from the security of proper firewall and anti-virus/etc implementation.

edit: As to your new post... You won't get an IP with Be that is dynamic in the way you suggest (though the IP is 'dynamic' in the true definition). As others have suggested, switching ISPs will do it for you. NTL gives out IPs that are dynamic enough for your purposes. Try them.
