Bear with it's head stuck in a jar?

Got to say that there is a bit of a contradiction going on there. When the bear was in a forrested area they couldn't tranqualize it because they couldn't get a clear shot, yet when they could get a clear shot they shoot it dead. What's that all about

My thoughts exactly. Why didn't they just tranquilise it then, the stuff takes a few seconds to work, and then get it on a trailer and de-jar it.

why kill it, surly it would have been easier to knock it out so to say, remove said jar, and let the bear go back to the wild with an important lesson learnt, do not put head in jar

Its a disgrace that the beast ended up with it on its head in the first place an even bigger disgrace that man kind thinks it has a right to destrroy another live so easily as you qite rightly put it they could have tranqualised it.

It's in the US.

They could have sold it to russians.

With a jar like that on its head, its breakdancing skills would be immense

Because it was in a town with people who are actually a little bit less likely to survive a starving frightened bear than you might think?

When the police start protecting the animals instead of the people I hope the bears knock on your door first ;)

why not shoot the jar of its head?

Better chance off it not dying...

are you being serious?

It's in the US.

I think the point you're missing is that public safety could have been maintained by just shooting the bear with a tranquilizer dart instead of a bullet. They'd already spent 6 days trying to do this then when they had a propper opportunity to do so they wasted it.

I'm not pretending to know everything that happened but it wouldn't suprise me if those 6 days weren't exactly well spent either.

US wildlife officials who tried to capture a bear that had a jar stuck on its head, have shot the animal after it wandered into a busy Minnesota town.

Efforts to tranquilise the animal failed because the bear "stayed in forested areas", he said.

Something aint right...

should have told those with dart gun it was an american/british soldier on Iraq training, the yanks can do friendly fire, but not dart a large bear that moves slow
