I'm a year into growing a full on mountain man or 'grizzly adams' style of beard- the ultimate expression of beardiness! Do you have a beard?

and, as a question...why the hell is my beard a different colour to my hair???? Thats always confused me...

TG

I have a goatee kinda thing goin on (gf wants me to have it ) and i know what you mean about the diff colour, i have brown hair but my beard is brown with ginger flecks in it :(

Beared for the loose to be honest, just makes you look old before you time and in general will repel the ladies.

My beard hair is darker than my hair. My face really doesnt appreciate shaving so most of the time I have some kind of stubble/very short beard depending on when I last trimmed it.

I've got no real feelings towards beards either way, I don't particularly want one at the moment but if they are hereditary then I've got a good chance of growing an impressive one. I am also a bit confused about why if I let my stubble grow for a while it seems to have ginger flecks in it, vaguely distressing really - I can only think that Celtic ancestry has something to do with it.

you think thats bad? my hair is darkish brown. my beard is proper ginger.

I could dye it, but I feel I have to keep the faith with my ginger brothers and sisters out there. Solidarity and all that.

I have a beard. Clear cheeks and hairy throat. It grows at different speeds though so is hard to keep looking sensible. I'm happy it's the same colour as my hair, although with a few grey bits.

I'd like to be able to grow one but it always seems a bit patchy to me so I never have the balls to let it grow past the "long stubble" stage.

It would be a pretty odd strain of narcissism there, going for the messiest style of beard possible and then dying it because you don't like the colour. :p Do you trim it at all to keep it vaguely in check or just accept it will all grow at different rates?

Usually keep a goatee but lately been lazy so been letting it grow..only thing is that i have black hair and my beard/goatee is now a mixture of black and grey hairs:(....ahhh the joys growing old:p

Got a stupid goatee thing going on only because i cant be arsed to buy new shaving blades, and same here my hair is really dark but damn facial hair is light brown and ginger damit lol

My old man says im beginning to look like catweasel though im not old enough to remember the cartoon lol

rofl...yeah, there really is no point to dying it.

As for trimming it...i really don't see the point/need- trying to make this style of beard tidy would be even dafter than dying it. Its the ultimate lazy beard.

I have a beard of ginge - tis a beast!

Beards for the win!

virtual hi-5 for you sir!

its odd- everyone I have ever known who can't grow a beard really wishes they could...

the father in law is a classic example - he's in the army and isn't allowed to grow a beard, but starts growing one the moment he goes on leave, just so he can have one, even for that short period of time.

Have big Hairy Mutton Chops which grade up the side of my head to a Grade 1/0 shaved head (don't ask , it's a bitch to maintain but people are used to me like it now) and have a long Soul patch/Goatee and no tache. Also suffer with the curse of the speckled ging beard but now have the added addition of grey :(
