Bearshare Problem

For users of Bearshare:

This is my favourite P2P software I have used to date, but whenever it is in use, Internet Explorer loads pages unbelievably slow. My connection is 8Mbps and the problem occurs even when Bearshare is not downloading anything at all.

Anybody know how to resolve this issue?

You need to cap your upload. Try using something like netlimiter.

Well, the first problem is Bearshare itself- Junkware loaded crud.
I'd be running a full scan with AdAware/ Spybot Search & Destroy after removing it. Then switch over to an open source P2P program (Personally use Shareaza)

Torrents are all well and good for some things, but a simple program like bearshare pro, available without any spyware, is better for other things.

Like what? Torrents have better content, faster speeds, greater reliability and no viruses in the downloads.

Im afraid the content is not discussable on these boards, but lets just say torrent sites dont have everything and anything, whereas popular P2P apps, whilst not as good at getting certain things, are excellent at getting others that simply arnt available via Bit torrent.

OK guys, thanks everyone for the responses.

I'm using Bearshare Pro, not the freeware one. It doesn't corrupt my Windows installation with junk, unlike the free one, as has already been sent.

Even with uploads turned off completely in Bearshare, Internet Explorer is still unbearably slow. I think it is another issue...

Thanks for advice on other software but I have tried a lot of P2P programmes, and providing I can get around this IE conflict, it will be the only one I need...

Any more ideas how to fix guys?

I used to love bearshare, then get spammed with adwear.
Bittorrent is too slow, you can hardly ever find a good fast torrent
And I find limewire really thin. I.e. It doesnt find half as much compared other p2p programs (im talking about the pro version too.)
I'm still in search of a decent p2p myself.
Shareaza used to be good back in the day, havent used it in a cupple of years though.
Thats my 2 cents.
