im looking for a beast of a silent, yet powerful, CPU cooler. the stock one is quiet but not really silent, so im looking for the most silent one you can get so i can leave computer on at night and not hear it

money not too much of an issue

Water is pretty quiet, bit drastic though.

A scythe ninja with a super quiet fan is probably the best air cooling solution.

Agree, but I have to say me going from scythe ninja to water made a huge difference temperature wise

im leaning more towards the ninja, as i'd prefer to keep away from water and speed-demon.

ok so i need the nija and then what fan to go on that? dont understand how'd that work.

also does it mind that the ninja is kinda of upside down, not lpointing down, but its just as i got the lianli V1000+ the MB is the other way round.

Although the Ninja was designed as a passive heatsink, it isn't rated at CPUs over the Athlon 64 3500+. However, it does come with a 120mm fan that according to Scythe is pretty darn quiet.

so what should i get? im looking at the Zalman CNPS9500-LED Aero Flower (Socket 939/754/478/775) CPU Cooler (HS-015-ZA) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Zalman_121.html (top of the page) hows that for noise?

It is worth noting that the Scythe Mine is a cheaper, yet worthy alternative to the Scythe Ninja: while it is not designed to run passive, the couple of reviews I've seen show it to be on par (at time better) than the Ninja when used with a fan. And no, you won't need a Delta screamer before the Mine starts to shine.

I have the Zalman 9500 and it is the quitest component in my PC when at idle. Basically I don't hear it. It does become louder as the CPU temperature goes up above 45C but that is at 100% load which rearly happens in my PC. If you haven't done any other modifications to your PC in order to lower the noise then even at full speed you will not hear the Zalman.

Or you could buy a ninja, which is SILENT all the time :) (with the right fan, that is)

I have the Zlamn 9500 cooling my opty 170 at 2.8ghz on 7v silent.
Great design great looks like build quality and sucks all the hot air out of the case.
Best cooler I have ever owned.
Best chip I have ever Owned.

Enough Said :D

its annoying as you get a lot more then needed of that stuff, although its very cheap i feel like im wasting the rest.

This leads me to beleive however that the stuff needs to be replaced every few months or something, is this true?

no

just keep it for other builds etc....
:)

I went and bought AS5 and ArctiClean... found out the stuff on the AC Freezer 64 Pro [MX-1] is just as good so I bought it all for nowt :p At least you get to use a grain of rice worth lol

i take it that is the right amount of AS you should be using all the time every time then......that would explain why my 9800 pro died :( - im a dumbass (or a noob depending on how you look at it :p )
