Sad news. John Nash and his wife have been killed in car crash in New Jersey USA.

US mathematician John Nash, who inspired the Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind, has died in a car crash with his wife, police have said.

Nash, 86, and his 82-year-old wife Alicia were killed when their taxi crashed in New Jersey, they said.

The mathematician is renowned for his work in game theory, winning the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1994.

His breakthroughs in maths - and his struggles with schizophrenia - were the focus of the 2001 film.

I always found him inspirational as I share his illness and know how hard it can be to live with. But he overcame this and won a Nobel Prize. Truly amazing and beautiful mind.

Ok, some of the jokes in this thread are witty but this is just distasteful.

RIP to him and his wife.

It's GD. Ironic that if this was a thread about a forum member who lost a loved one in a similar fashion, NOBODY would dare crack a sick joke for fear of being perma-banned. The hypocrisy is palpable.

If they wanna perma ban me for a joke then that's the "risk" i took. Its not hypocritical at all, i don't really care if anyone dies that i don't actually know !

You obviously care a lot about the guy. Not many will.

Rip that guy.

I'll remember this just in case some one dear to you dies and you post here about it. I'll have a sick joke ready just to help you with your grief.

You are very weird then.

Send it to my trust email now, address it towards my mum she will "naturally" be next. I'll save it till the day it happens. Try keep it to 1 short clever sentence.

Ty.

A man with a mind that pushed him to the limits and one the he pushed to the limits. Truly inspirational.

RIP John Nash

No, they're not unpleasant, they just sometimes say inappropriate things at times. They are probably perfectly nice people in person.

Exactly, classic keyboard warrior syndrome in effect, terribly sad.

A Beautiful Mind is a film that I've not got round to watching but is certainly on my list of ones to watch.

RIP
