How do you become a farmer, not that you would want to in the current climate, however I've always wondered, how you would go about it

Maybe some sort of zooology degree? May not be a farmer as such, but you could probably work on a farm -_-

You need a degree to become a farmer in this day and age?

i dont think a degree is the minimum qualification for becoming a farm worker

So for example then, you've been to farm school and have a GNVQ in crop circles... Then what.
Buy a farm - how would you raise that kind of money... Ocean Finance?

Inherit a family buisness or work as a farm hand and get your foot in that way. Most farms where I am looks like a family buisness with the kids helping out. Get the impression you get a nice house with lots of land but no money.

So as it stand you can not start up as a farmer, 'just like that'.

its like any other business

you need to know what your doing and have the cash or investors willing to help you start up

pretty sure you do get people doing degrees at agricultural colleges these days - I guess the next step is to get a bank loan, rent the land and become a tenant farmer

I'd presume most of them, however, simply inherit a farm and crack on

Aye, in this day and age though I would have thought there would be some 'simple steps' to encourage new farmers, seeing as its soo hard to earn a living doing so. So I understand anyway.
