BECOME AN OFFICIAL OcUK REVIEWER & WIN SAPPHIRE HD 5970, 5870, 5850 & 5770 GFX CARDS

Beside this I guess it wants to ensure that reviewers are at least somehow up to scratch with current hardware.

I surely don't want someone with a Pentium 2 to review a 5970... :)

Very ture :) Then again if all they have is a P2 then come reviewing new hardware they will give everything 10/10 which could be good for business :p.

Did anybody get a reply from OCUK saying that their review was received? I'd love to know if mine was.

No but I can tell you over 40 reviews received so far, many of which are excellent :)

Keep them coming

No as in you can't tell me or no as in it wasn't received? :p

It was sent at just after 18:00 on Friday 19th. Glad to hear you think the reviews are excellent. Good work guys! :)

Well I finished my written review; however it's hovering at around 4000 words. I'm going to try and shrink it down a notch or two but (@Spie) are the word counts strict or can we go over them? Feels a tad disappointing to cut out a load of information to stay within the word count when all of is relevant.

pfft i hate it when that happens, ive had many experiences of that whilst at uni. they key it too think like a reader. whilst all the info may be relevant, just think of the key/main points and what the reader wants to know before a purchase.... i was slightly over my review but just on final edit now, fingers crossed

Yeah I get the same with my uni course. I've tweaked it though and knocked it down so that it is mostly within the word count. For the bits that aren't I can't really change it any more than I have, and if I did it would impact the quality of the review so I won't be tounching it unless instructed to do so. :)

What are the majority of the reviews of? Reason I ask is that if there are 10s of reviews of the same item I'll try something unique.

Don't worry about that. The quality of the review is the most important thing.

Spie, Concerning the review template. Do you want all of the product photos in the "Photos/Pictures" section, or can some of the photos be used in the "Review" section?

I think there will be some leeway on the word count as reviewing a motherboard/GFX or a OS would be more complex that say review something more simple like a cheap ass fan or webcam. A couple of mine are around 3k while one is much more and 2 (which ive only just started on) we likely be much less.

btw Good luck to everyone, I know ill need it lol :)

OcUK doesn't have a strict spam filter that would kill some of the emails sent would it? :p Reason I ask is I have been having some trouble with my SMTP server recently. Would there be harm in resending the email just incase? I don't trust the server :(

Ive finished both my written and video review, however hotmail doesn't allow files over 10MB to be uploaded. I can fit my written review onto the e-mail fine, but the video is far too big.

I thought I'd best ask what is the best way for you to view it. Should I post it on Youtube and give you the link, or some other way?

Thanks

Gareth

Well you aren't supposed to do a video review, although a quick walk around of the product is fine i believe.

Sorry, I worded my post wrong. Ive done a fully written review, and then a video overview to go along side it (as described in the template).

Due to the e-mail limit on hotmail being 10MB, I can't send the overview video via e-mail. Ive already uploaded it onto Youtube and set up the privacy URL service, so if I put the link to the video in my e-mail you guys at overclockers can view it (as long as you are signed into a Youtube account).

Could someone please confirm if this ok.

Thanks

Gareth
