BECOME AN OFFICIAL OcUK REVIEWER & WIN SAPPHIRE HD 5970, 5870, 5850 & 5770 GFX CARDS

Or wait for OcUK to send you review parts that are capable of working with it? :P

As for plagiarism software, I'm not sure if they would go through with that. Yes, universities use it, but they have hundreds of thousands of essays a year to scan. OcUK has a couple of hundred reviews to scan, and that's it, which is probably not enough to justify any software licenses.

Though I may be wrong :p

He didn't mean they'd send you a pc to do the reviewing, he meant keep reviewing stuff, and gradually they may have sent you enough stuff to build a new pc.

It's unlikely though, because with things like motherboards and processors reviews don't usually have a huge impact on decision making, generally the things that are less about benchmarks and specifications are the ones that are more often searched for in reviews, like mouse and keyboards, monitors, cases etc.

So basically sleepy, you could see it as an upgrade, but only if you sell every part you get from them after reviewing it and eventually putting it to new components.

Good point. Reading comprehension fail.

As just normal people without big ol' standardised test rigs, testing CPUs and mobos and some RAM and PSUs would be difficult.

As awesome as winning a 5970 would be, it would be so far bottlenecked, I could blow a tune across it.

It would be a good excuse to splurge on an i7 system though.

"Oh, I have to spend all this money. You see, otherwise I cannot use this £550 graphics card I won! That's £550 wasted if I don't!"

Perrrrfect.

not really pal, i guess theres nothing stoping you selling the card and using the money else where on your system. though the prize would slide nicely into my machine :D

I wouldn't be too sure, they may require the winners to review whatever card they win. Fortunately my brother doesn't use his i7 rig too much so I won't be bottlenecked, at least for testing :)

Wonder when the results will be announced I'm thinking around midday :D

Can't wait although I'm not very confident at all :( Good luck once more!

If I land a 5770 or a 5850, I will most likely use it. If I bag the 5870 or the 5970 (Unlikely, but I have hope) then I will most likely make a shrine around it and worship at it daily until I have a system worthy of the might.

Or something, y'know?

If I managed to wangle the 5970 I would keep it. Why get rid?

Andy

Because I would need a new PSU, a new case (or crack out the hacksaw on the HDD bay!). And it would be a massive bottleneck. Shame to waste such a powerful card when I could never be used to it's full potential in a system! I think I would sell it and get a nice SSD, an AM3 CPU and a gfx card better than my current 9800GTX!

Yeah, top end cards are overpriced anyways. If I won, which I won't, I'd sell it and buy other things.
