Bee Hive in Soil?

I seem to have a Bee Hive in the wall which runs at the rear of our garden. It's a small wall which has soil upon it, the big bumble bee's go into the part which is open then up into the soil. I need to work in the area to chop down a tree, yet I'm frightened I may upset them.

What is the best method of getting rid of them?

I'm really curious to dig up the soil just to see how many there, but my brain is telling me DON'T DO IT MAN, DON'T DO IT.

Bumblebees are a really nice bunch of lads generally. I would give chopping the tree a go and see if it bothers them before you try exterminating.

I will leave them bee then. :p

I'd love to see the hive though and how they've made it inside the soil. Wonder if I can get a small camera to poke in.

Depending on the method your using to chop the tree down, they should be ok with it, a chainsaw may upset them, but a normal saw and axe should'nt bother them too much.

Strongly advise against poking things inside, unless you want to taste their wrath.

Im sorry - But they need to just go away and die.

I mean, why make a damned nest in someone house ayy?

I bet if you tried making a house in their nest they'd sure attack you wouldnt they.

Yes.

Fire.

Lots and lots of fire.

I would point you towards here for idea and direction:

Swearing in link, be more careful what you link to.

Just leave them, we have had bee hives in our back garden from time to time and they don't actually bother you if you just leave them bee. ;) Also my mums garden was flowering the other week and it is quite small, there must have been 50+ bees flying around us while we were just brewing and they just don't bother you. Don't get why so many people on here are so scared of silly things (esp insects lol). It's wasps that are ****ers. And Horseflies.
