well i've started making my own as store bought in the uk is terrible and 25g for £2 wow..
bought a dehydrator looked up a few recipes from across the pond and away i went ..
first batch was good 4lb of topside .. second batch tried brisket ..very chewy 3rd was silverside never again very stringy and would not dry right might have a high fat content .. ??
so today it's 1.8 kg topside again ..

anyone else do there own ? and wants to share there secrets ..lol :)
 
Biltong TBH. Less salt/MSG, more flavour.

You've made me want to try making some jerky now though. I own a dehydrator and we've just started eating meat at home after 10 years vegan :D
Think you can make a dryer for every cheap. Most people use a 3pin fan and something that resembles a rabbit hutch that's sealed.

You also need a source of gentle heat, as the UK is far more humid than the likes of South Africa.
In the past we just used a lightbulb, but they're mostly LED now and not hot enough. We started using the Ninja instead and results aren't bad, but still not good enough to do it regularly.
