Been charged 2.50 for a text message I received ?

I received a rabdom text message from a number 88130 about updating vehicles MOT, I don't drive, I didn't click any links, yet I get a charge ??

Seems odd that I got this message not long after getting into Germany. How has it charged me and anyway to get my money back ?

Are you on o2 by chance? Wife had something like this but for a Gym membership she had supposedly signed up for, she never replied to the text or opened the link but was then charged £3 a week by this 'Gym' via her o2 mobile contract. Had to phone o2 up and get premium texts barred on the account and account credited with the money that was taken. Looked on line and seems to be lots of o2 users being caught in these scams. No idea how they get away with it!?

I had something send me a premium text earlier this year and it was a reoccuring weekly subscription for norton antivirus on mgage and said to text STOP to cancel it.. So I did

There was a good website somewhere of a guy who setup advice on how to go about contacting them and actions to take and not take, but had no luck finding it after a little bit.
Whatever you do don't reply to the text, otherwise when you do go further you get something back like this..

Dear customer,

Thank you for your query.
We have investigated the mobile number you have provided, *****, and our records show that the number has interacted with service Norton Mobile Security Plan from Freenet Digital.
We have contacted the merchant company, the service cancellation was initiated on 4th of July 2018, and raised a question around your charges.

after i sent a few more emails..

Dear customer,
Thank you for your query.

Our company, mGage, is a mobile aggregator. Merchant companies who operate mobile services use our mobile messaging platform to send messages to their end users.

,
how they have processed the automatic charge is to do with the airtime credit that your mobile network has on your sim. It can be around £10 for travelling abroad etc, and they tap into this. I don't know how they get the number but I guessed through intrusive online popups accidentally clicked on and spyware inside.

My charge of £5 didn't happen again, so if yours is small it is easier and will save your time to ignore it best you can unless its already sending you more charges. Good luck

edit: On the off chance that your network will repay you out of goodwill like the message above then its lucky, as many won't because they don't care about their customers enough.

It's perfectly normal, it's a registered office not the address of the business. When I had a limited company the registered address was my accountants address (along with hundreds of other companies).
Yeah same, just made me laugh how many were registered there :)
