Less then £80 but good overclocker... good luck

You want something like Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 AMD 990X £97.99 or Gigabyte 970A-UD3 AMD 970A (with bios update for FX CPU) £86.99

Asus Sabertooth is a fantastic board @ £129 tho

+1 for the sabertooth, Remember you get what you pay for and with mobos you never wanna go cheap, just a friendly bit of advice ;)

Agreed. There is such a huge difference between cheap and good motherboards. If you got the CPU free then why not wait untill you can afford a board it deserves.

It's not worth paying an extra 50 on the AM3+ platform.

It's a black edition, I'd second Plus1's advice for ; http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-501-AS&groupid=701&catid=1903&subcat=2046

Anything else is a waste.

Though, I'd strongly advise ; http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-485-AS&groupid=701&catid=1903&subcat=1481
You'll still get a decent 4GHZ clock off it and you end up not paying a massive amount of money.

And I linked to an AM3+ board.
Also, some AM3 boards do work, but that's besides the point :p

FX4's a budget CPU, if it was free, pair it with a 40 quid board and you've got an excellent performance for the money you've paid.

Which dedicated AM3 boards work with AM3+?

I wqouldn't feel confident about OCing with a £40 motherboard....

I went down this route already and it died within 2 days of my 965BE @ 3.8ghz, and was horifically unstable!

CH IV and a few others, just look at their CPU compatibility of all AM3 boards to find out :p

And I've OC'ed with 40 quid boards before, perfectly stable.

I used this board in a budget build for my son Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 and have the fx 4100 at 4.2ghz stable and all good, I did however put a fan over the mosfets/vrms.

Just a side not I also got a gigabyte gsm31 socket 775 mobo about 2 years ago very cheap, very budget mobo and it clocked amazingly on my other sons pc,and still going strong, yes expensive boards do provide stable/quality but not the end all be all

That was the exact board I had. It's a tiny board, and if you install a graphics card it covers the remaining PCIe/PCI port so you can't install a discrete soundcard or anything lol.
