Have been phoning around the insurers today, nobody can beat my quote from ecarinsurance online it seems and ive only got a couple of companys left to try.

Few things stuck out though.

Quinn were very poor on the phone, had some lad who repeatedly said "like" in sentences for no reason and was abrupt to the point of being rude. The girl i spoke to later wasnt much better.

Tesco didnt have an option for larger brake discs, just vented or drilled, and also wanted me to prove i had a standard factory fit alarm/immobiliser! But were fairly competitive on price.

Sky insurance while they couldnt quote me were very helpful and knew what they were talking about, also took into account my previous driving experience, nobody else asked what i had been driving previously. They phoned me back within minutes after doing his best to get me a good quote.

Ive has the same experiences as you all round, sky were very helpful but could never touch the admiral group (who seem to love me for some reason)

I assume youve tried the likes of bell and admiral?

When I insured the scoob with Tesco, I explained I had bigger brakes on the front and they didn't raise my premium.

That was a couple of years ago though :)

Yes, they wanted 2k+

My cheapest is 1160 with ecarinsurance, nobody else is getting close

That with the engine declared too? Mega cheapness!

LOL @ the factory fit alarm/immob though. Just stand by the car while on the phone, reach through an open window and unlock the door to set the alarm off.

Or why not go back in time 12 years and ask a Rover dealer to whip you up a nice letter.

Its easily under 1k as a 220 NASP Andy :D

Mine *should* have been that :(

Stupid insurance claim. Still not sorted. I want my NCB back /cries

I reckon it would have been under a grand for the 420 if I hadn't lost them.

i don't know what your particular age/circumstances are... but yesterday i took out a new policy with "bell" (flexibell policy) and they are supercheap for me as a young driver (21, 5pts, 1 total loss claim) on a moderate group car (group 12). i found the particular policy though a confused.com search. maybe worth a try?

That quote from ecar seems pretty good given those circumstances :) Id just go for that

kiwikfit do seem to be cheapest at the moment

Kwik Fit quoted my Mrs low but the excess was £700! £400 standard + £300 young driver excess. Not worth it I said when she could have a £400 excess for a similar quote with RAC but have to pay half now and half at the end of the term. Which works out better for her anyway.
