Been shunted side on

I would be happy for the lady to pay for the repair without involving the insurance, but I would be picking the body shop.

If this is repaired through insurance... will it show up on HPI check? Does it get categorised as cat c/d even if not a write-off? Any way of finding out it was in an accident later which reduces vehicle value when selling?

These are things I'd like to know.

Did you take out a loan to buy the car? Does that mandates dealer repair?

No bought it with cash all good on that front

Woman + Range Rover = Right of way in her head.

As said claim company, I have used the BMW one and would not hesitate to use them again.

Was it Dick Lovetts?

Me too. The OP has the power here, as she appears to be clearly at fault. Either it is done the way he wants or he goes down the insurance route.

No nothing shows on a hpi unless it's cat c/d. My first car I owned was only worth 1.5k and my repairs were 1k on it after a rear shunt but nothing came up on hpi when I sold it.

Just had a call from her insurance company, she has accepted full responsibility. I'll probably go with BMW direct if I can after I have spoken with Redish Motorsport to make sure they agree with what needs doing and if they car will be able to be as good as new.

Car is now with BMW main dealer being sorted in full, their estimate was £3k after having a quick look around.

They have given me a 430D M sport convertible, lol. I'll do more of a right up in the BMW thread but diesel is awful and I hate it and the peasants that drive with such poverty fuel, I am sold on automatics with paddle shift and need to do more research into them for my next car.

£3k sounds a bit steep D:

I don't think so, I can quite easily see that being £3k worth of damage considering BMW will replace the body panels with genuine parts, it will be painted to BMW's approved standard and there may well be further damage behind the panel itself.

When my M135i was ran into from the back fairly slowly, maybe 10-15 mph, it caused £1800 worth of damage, plus 4 days of hire car. That was for a new rear bumper, new rear diffuser, new exhaust heat shield, new numberplate lights, new numberplate, a few brackets & clips, reflectors and the work itself.

Insurance all the way. Good job you went that route. 300quid to sort that out. They were having a laugh.

They most probably knew it was way more than £300 of damage. Just trying it on with the pressure of the crowd there hoping you buckle. Good job you didn't.

Insurance no brainer.

Had a blonde bimbo reverse into my car smashing the panel in, said her boyfriends mate could fix it for about £300, took it to a few garages, quoted no less than a grand at each one.

Even though you're not at fault your premium will likely take a small hit. But so worth it for that peace of mind.

Was going to chime in and suggest you go insurance, but I did the right thing and read the thread in full :)

Good to hear you went insurance route. Job done. Much less worry on your part!
