Beep Beep! "Vehicle is reversing". Vroooooom! Smash!

What time would you like them to turn up? Bearing in mind that they have to get around to everyone and back to the dump/landfill/recycling for processing.

You ARE being that moaning neighbour, it's a part of life, you can't have everything your way, learn to live with it. It's only a bit of racked from some guys taking your filth/rubbish away.

Perhaps they should employ more people to lighten the load on everyone else thus making the route begin at less anti-social hour?

The project I'm currently on means I'm up at 6am on Thursdays anyway for the moment. But come October I won't be, and my GF doesn't get up until 7.

Shouldn't she be up making you tea and breakfast? :D

I think the points made by people saying if we made that noise they would take action against us, but the council can get away with it.

Have you spoken with your neighbours, are they feeling the same way?

Ours come about 7, as I'm leaving the driveway. The lorry is sodding loud but they don't use reverse beepers or anything. All you hear is loud turbo and diesel noise.

The reversing bleeper thingy is there for pedestrians protection, there is no law regarding the use of it afaik although my Scania has a button to kill it which I use at night more often than not.

People still ignore them though!!

OP - check with your council. For instance, Elmbridge say:

Waste collections from domestic premises
These are the carried out by contractors working for Elmbridge Borough Council. Collections do not start until 7.00 am. If you are being disturbed by noise from domestic waste collections before 7.00 am, please contact us

Waste collections from commercial premises
These are not carried out by the Council. Businesses hire their own contractors. Environmental Health & Licensing discourage commercial waste companies from making noisy collections in residential areas before 7.00am or after 11.00pm Monday to Saturday or before 9.00am or after 11.00pm on Sundays and Bank holidays.

My other half's sister lived in Sheffield and the council bin-men were getting earlier and earlier (before 6am IIRC). She complained to the council a couple of times and they sorted it out.

They've got to do it early, so they can get their own round done in time and then cream the overtime in due to the understaffing that goes on.....

Most people making a racket at an unsociable hour aren't usually doing a service for public good

But there has to be a line drawn or are you happy with them coming around at 3 or 4 am???

I think that line is closer to 7 and the only reason they are coming round so early is because of cuts in manpower equipment etc.

I pay my taxes for them to collect my bins not wake me up early.
