Beer...NEED BEER!!

Try Majestics, there's a limited range of good beers by the case in all branches.

That would have been my suggestion if the supermarkets were failing although usually if you look in a couple of different supermarkets you get wildly different deals - Somerfields, Co-Ops and the like can be great value at times.

pitchfork is right that who you drink with makes a major difference to how much you enjoy yourself although perhaps removing the swearing would be a good idea even though I agree about White Lightning.

Stella is miles better than fosters, fosters is awful awful awful hateful stuff.#

Stella is by no means good, however :)

I havn't drunk much fosters, but I'd say that Fosters isn't as obtrusively nasty as Stella. That stuff is honestly disgusting.

Recently been trying goliath beer its very tasty and a quid a bottle ish from netto it reminds me of my fav newcastle brown ale but in a bigger bottle and cheaper.

You're forgetting you're talking about beer rather than lager.
Don't forget lager is a different kind of drink altogether, if you don't like it it's fine but it's refreshing.

Bristol Wine Company - It's on Victoria street so not a million miles from the train station. http://www.thebristolwinecompany.co.uk/

Even tho they mainly do wine, I go there for the cider, but from what I remember they had a fair few nice beers in there also... Not the cheapest place but they've got a lot of things you wouldn't find in Thresher/Tesco.

If you go there on a hot day it's great as they've got a fridge room in the corner you can go into and pick up a nice cool crate of cider/wine.

Oh there! Walk past it everyday, have bought a keg of Gem from there before
