Beer - what's generally better quality - cans, bottles or pints?

I'm 100% positive that if you asked anybody who is a member of CAMRA that the answer would be barrel.
I'm trying to imagine going to a Beer Festival and being served from bottles or a can.
However I agree there would be a consistency with bottles and I can't imagine my Newcastle Brown coming out of a barrel or a can.
It even tastes different when poured into a glass.

Practically all bottled and canned beer is pasteurised so it's very stable. I prefer bottled but I've never done an objective taste test to prove it tastes better.

Cask conditioned beer where the yeast is still live but dormant and has the opportunity to "breathe" will give you the best pint of ale hands down but as has been said at both the beginning and end it may not be quite the peak.

You really cant beat a pint - especially when the glass is just out of the freezer = super cold beer

Just finished my nightshift, off now till Wed night, its 08:06 and I'm drinking Carlsberg :p

Bottles are better than cans, I can't believe anyone thinks different but if you do, cool, you get cheaper beer.

Draught in a pub has the potential to be massively better than bottles but also the potential to be massively worse.

Top or bottom of the barrel doesn't matter, the skill and care the landlord applies to keeping his beer does.

Generally pint > bottle > can

but some beers i prefer from cans such as Heineken Export and Lowenbrau

Hand pull>bottle>nitro keg>can

However most of the difference between bottles and cans comes from the fact that the contents is different. A lot of canned larger is brewed over here unlike the stuff in the bottles that's imported.

That's one thing - you guys talking about the container just as storage or in terms of drinking out of? A beer will always be better in a pint glass so that your nose gets the aroma of it - unless it's a horrible beer ;)

Don't understand the specially cooled beers - if it's very cold, you taste it less - so just choose a nicer pint? That's why you shove crap white wine in the coldest part of the fridge before drinking... :D

Anyway, if actually drinking out of the containers, then it's Pint > Bottle > Can for sure.

If you're pouring it out first I couldn't really say.

I do personally prefer draught but not just because I think it might taste better - but because it has a more 'fresh' feeling (probably all in my head) and usually means I'm also sat in a good ale pub with all the accompanying atmosphere and usually good company.
