I loved doing this with you guys a few years back and I'm really surprised one didn't get instigated during the first lockdown/last year generally. Unless I missed it! It introduced me to some new breweries and brews and made a change from the usual weekly tipple.

I'm terrible with names so I've totally forgotten who used to run it, but I believe it was a fair amount of work. If enough people want to play again and I can offer a hand in running the show I'd be more than happy to.

Thoughts?

I don't mind doing this. Not sure how it's played though. Do we do it by country and explore that one then move to another? I think it we start anywhere it should be Belgium [or even start in the UK, why not?].

I enjoyed it at the time but I'm not sure that it's a good thing to do during lockdown as it encourages going out, finding pubs and beer shops to take pictures of beer. Neither of which are really conducive with the "Stay at home" mantra.

Unless it can be done a different way.....

It'd be more of a challenge to find unique beers for sure without the weird one-off local ale brews you get in spit n sawdust pubs, but even my local Tesco Express has a fair range of independent beers, more so in larger superstores, not to mention supporting local breweries who are still doing click 'n collect and online specialists.

D wouldn't stand for Draught this time around, put it that way!

I believe the first iteration which I didn't play was based on countries hence the name, but of late it's just A-Z and has changed; I think last time Z stood for Zoo so it was just any beer with an animal-based name/logo/design etc. Cobra would count for example.

Sometimes the more mainstream beers would actually be the most unique whilst everyone else tries to go indie but ends up choosing the same.

Something Jester did the first few rounds then @Maccapacca took over the running of them.

I enjoyed it too. I think the only thing is that these days there’s so many craft beers that it makes it likely everyone has something different.

Id definitely be up for doing it again though. Although I remember losing first place on the last round in the last one I did. Was actually quite devastating :p

So how would this work then? You get a certain period of time to find a beer that fits the current criteria, post it here and everyone votes who found the 'best'? Or everyone tries to get the same and we all have an online tasting?

However it's done I'd be interested, quite happy to try new things to fight off boredom at the moment. Anyone got a link to the old thread and I'll read up how it was done last time.

^^ yeah...how did it work/what's the game?

I didn't take part but from memory there was a theme for each round and everyone bought a beer to fit the theme with points awarded for 'uniqueness' (ie finding a beer that no-one else got).

After that there was the issue of what to do with the beer, I think some people had to drink it. Terrible shame.

Haha, my signature still has me proudly displaying me as the winner! (Although, I didn't actually win).

I'd be up for this, and don't mind running it. Basically you have until a set time (say 2pm Sunday) to email your entries in (picture of your beer, with proof of your username). And then the organiser posts all the pictures. If you have a unique beer, you get 3 points, if one other person you get 2, etc.

I think a mix of beers and themes would be good. If it gets some traction I could put together an idea.

All good fun and with online orders and deliveries makes it much easier. Think I looked over two years of it. Be happy to join in but not run again it’s hella lot of work :p

Should include bonus points for associated gins and spirits :)

I took part a few years back. From memory, it was A-Z with a theme for each letter when I did it. It was good fun and meant I got to try a few beers I'd never normally consider because they fitted the theme of the rounds.
