A lot of people in here spend a lot of time and effort overclocking, but we don't often get to see the results. As such, I propose that anyone with a bit of time on their hands runs a before and after comparison to test how effective their OC is in the real world. You never know, it might encourage a few more people to try their hand at it.
So, the brief is this. Set your system (CPU, graphics card, or both) to the factory default clocks and run your favourite testing software. Then stick everything back to your overclocked settings and run the tests again. Then let us know how you got on! I suggest the best way of doing it is getting a value (Be it a score or an FPS reading) for both, then using
(High value - low value) * 100 / Low value
To calculate a percentage improvement. That way we have a standard measurement so we can see how everything compares, rather than having people with high end systems walking all over those with less powerful ones. It's all designed to be a bit of fun, but it can be quite gratifying seeing that your efforts haven't been in vain. If anyone is particularly interested I might keep a list of the biggest improvements in the first post, to add in an element of competition.
Happy benchmarking!
