Pretty much as the title says. I have been having a few issues with my 4850 strange horizontal blurrly lines have been appearing in games especially in scenes of high acivity. I also get some flickering from time to time too. It once started as an issue that only affected last remnant and the opening trailor of crysis however it has spread to other applications. Even css is showing it now and that shouldn't even test my card.

I have tried numerous drivers, checked temps (all fine), cleaned the card from dust and so on. I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the gpu however i was just wondering if there is anything else i can try before i send it back?

ok then well i'll run memtest see what that throws up i'll get back with results in a bit.

:(:( ohhh im confused, admittedly this is my first time using memtest (never had the need to before now) but it just dies before it gets anywhere near finishing the test.

well i'm running mem test now, on 65% and no errors thus far. I'm still pretty convinced it's the graphics card, after this if no errors are found i'm gonna steal my brothers gtx260 and try that in there, should have done that before really but i've been a little reluctant to pull apart his rig that i've only just put together.

what are u using to test temps?
Can you post screenshots?
'sounds' like classic artifacting, try downclocking the card, if the errors dissappear then thats 100% rma

well i've used CCC to monitor in game and ive run furmark on it to determine if it is overheating it tops out at about 80 which i know is hot however it's safe for a gpu.

hmmm didn't think of downclocking, might give that a go, or might just chuck in the 260 because if that's fine it's definately the card.

Screenshots are an awkward one as i don't know how to take em in game. Tried to take photos but my phone camera is a bit poop, i'll have another go later when memtest is finished. (99% atm with 0 errors so not the ram).

i've tried that one orangey, i get a black screen where the game should be and the background of my 2nd monitor. I'll try again tho.

well tried screenshots and they don't show the thing i'm on about, perhaps it's my monitor that's going wrong? The blurs/lines are there i got my brother to check incase i was actually going mad but i can find no way of bringing them up without a half decent camera might show them. :( i'm stumped by this, clearly something is wrong but i have no way of showing it. might hold off on the rma as they'll only send it back to say nothing is wrong. Going to try my games on the other screen to see if i get the same results.

ahhh ok, sorry my bad, thing is why isn't it showing up in my screenshots? The only thing i can think of is that my card is outputting it fine but my monitors (dell e207wfp) can't handle it for some reason. Anybody able to shed some light?

Jigger i haven't discounted what you said, just these flickers/lines seem odd and i want to investigate it a little further that's all.

Is it by chance a xfx xXx edition?
Im sending mine off tomorow RMA, but mine crashes at 60c every time, and i get vertical lines, not horizontal.
Trying running FurMark and watch the temps and such, try and see what it crashes at, that is IF it crashes. Or are you just getting interference?

nah doesn't crash and absolutely fine on furmark, just seems to be on very busy moments in games where it does it and strangely in a lot of opening cinematics/videos. Also it's a sapphire one. It's just like a line travelling up and down the screen, can't work out why, sometimes it's really quite bad sometimes it's barely noticeable but it certainly annoys me.

i've tried it windowing last remnant to about 1200x800 but still does it, might have another go tomoz as ive just re-installed OS and stuff (seagate hard disk decided to die, i'm not having much luck). Might try my brothers gtx260 in here as well see if anything happens
