Beginners - you will not get massive from weight training

The reason you may feel full is because fats and protein fill you up quite quickly.

With meat, yes, but I have tried vegetarian food before and it isn't filling. :(

Easiest option is to start eating twice as much as you already consume, so instead of 2 scrambled eggs have four, etc. then start eating a bag (200g... ;))of unsalted peanuts a day.

Then add in brotein shakes wherever you come up short.

Fats are great here because they help you crank up the calories in a useful way (cream, olive oil, butter, coconut oil, etc).

Admittedly I don't know how much you weigh, but you could at least double that intake without any trouble...

^^ 6" 2 and 9.5 stone.

Imagine a scarecrow :p

As far as meat, I gave 90% of that up since I found it sat so heavily I would often miss a meal.

Really appreciate the help all. :)

Nuts. All the nuts.

Including that atrocious magazine to keep your test levels up (provided it doesn't get reduced by how bad a mag it actually is)...

Learn to love nuts, as well as brotein shakes because a quasi-vegan diet will need a bit of help to really get going without spending more money than necessary. Also, cook everything in buckets of olive or coconut oil.

What I have found is that my while my body has got a lot stronger, certainly firmer, with a much better shape, it has actually got smaller, or should I say more compact and efficient.
I started working out again recently.

My arms are getting smaller lol.
even the fat seems to be disappearing from around the muscles but I'm confident I'm over eating. (if anything my belly has gotten bigger)
same happening to my shoulders as well

it's weird because my legs seem to be about the same accept the top of my thighs has a nice curve of muscle starting to show

Which is why I started this thread. I think part of the issue is that beginners (like me) look at pictures and videos online and a lot of weight trainers look big. But part of it is an illusion because of the proportions that training gives you.

Strength and body shape doesn't necessarily mean huge bursting muscles.

Yeah, muscle size and strength aren't always directly related but obviously the general trend is bigger=stronger.
You can get relatively weak body-builders who are huge and then olympic lifters who can lift nearly 3 times their bodyweight.
Really depends what you train for.

Its true that you wont get "massive", in the sense that getting vaguely within the realms of a pro bodybuilder would take years and lots of steroids.
It doesn't take too long to get noticeably bigger though. Starting from scratch around last October it didnt take too long before I was outgrowing some of my shirts. So in a positive sense it is possible to have quite a quick impact.

this guy is from before steroids
