Driver Fusion is great for when you're having driver related problems. Driver Sweeper is a bit out dated now so id recommend the op upgrade to Driver Fusion.

+1 for driver fusion.
It must have been an issue with remaining files, as once I'd booted into safe mode and ran driver sweeper, the remaining files were found & removed.
The same download which reported a corrupt download worked fine once the above was done.
