hi guys.

been using a boogie bug cloth mat for years along with a razer mamba

the mouse is perfect on the cloth pad, but i am using a pad with a plastic finish pad today and cant seem to get the mouse working properly.

the pad is nice as the mouse glides really well on it. but i cant seem to get my mamba working properly on it.
i have increased the DPI and the polling rate, but it seems that every time i move the mouse a little it seems juddery and stops occasionally. as if the mouse isnt picking up the surface well.
is it just that the tracking surface isnt designed to work well with other mice?

anything i can do to sort this out or should i just give up and go back to the boogie bug?

The only thing that I can think of is your surface is either to shiny or designer for one of those older mice with the ball inside it.

If the surface is to shiny it can cause the mouse to track incorrectly. For example the mouse is sending a beam straight down but the reflective surface is curving it slightly...

This of course might not be the issue.. any who Good luck on your mouse hunt lol

What pad are you using? Might help us figure out why you're having problems.

EDIT: Also been using the boogiebug aimpad for years. Great piece of kit, especially for the tenner I paid. Thought I saw them up for £24 on OcUK last week, must have been as mistake as they're £16 now, which is more like it!

it is a mionix propus 380 pad.

i am convinced it is my mamba, i tried my logitech mouse on there and its fine, must be something to do with my setup on the mamba.

There is a small review here where the guy used a mamba mouse with that pad ok, weird issue though.

It's a simple review, only linking it to show the fact the mamba was used on it with no issues lol.

Optical and laser mice tested here with no issues. It says it uses reflective foil to enhance the tracking as well - perhaps that is screwing with the high end Mamba? This is a weird problem.

I assume you have checked the underside of the mouse to make sure no dust is near the sensor lens?

Other than that maybe try it on a few different pads at work and buy one of those. Or not bother with a pad at all! Not really a proper solution I know but my deathadder works great on my desk.

Have you tried the Mamba on a similar hard mouse mat?

I know you said the Logitech works on the mouse mat, but if the Mamba doesn't work on a similar hard mouse mat, we can definitely cut it down to being the Mouse...

As for more help, I'd probably recommend a quick google and see if you can find someone else with similar issues....

Maybe try the Mamba out on some odd surfaces as well, glass, high polished metal etc...

EDIT: The clocks changing has just completely screwed up the times on this post and the post before, as a neat little side note :D

i read that review earlier. havent seen much else :(

i have cleaned it to make sure. odd how it works on the cloth mat well though. as i say, my logitech mouse works well on it.

yes but i only have a razer hard pad to try which works with the mamba [unsurprising]
works perfect on the desk surface and glass too

i know its the mamba. its a shame because its an awesome pad with the logitech mouse. just prefer the mamba :(

sorted it now, not sure what fixed it.

changed my polling rate and cleaned the lens, so either one of them worked. :)
