Being a vampire in oblivion..

Being a vamp is a different play style. I use caves, ruins and forts as my bedtime haunts - make a fair bit of money that way too. Hardly ever go to town, partly as my infamy is so high, being evil and all. But high acrobatics gets me away from guards.

If you must venture out in daytime, bump up your resistance to fire by whatever means, and have a decent restoration spell handy. Does get your restoration skill going up quickly though.

And other people do not become vampires when you bite them - I tried getting a village of vampires to no success.

Hmm, well I've just closed my first Oblivion gate, so I'm going to get the next bit out of the way then I'll see about the dark brotherhood.

You know at the very beginning of the game, when the Captain of the Blades gets killed and you take her katana, the other guard eventually takes it off of you and says it'll go in some rememberance hall somewhere. Is there any way I can get that sword back? Like go to the hall and nick it?

btw Tigjaw, thats pretty much the vamp experience I'm after.

There should be an armoury where you can pickup a full set of armour + sword and shield.

Its not all that, doesnt do as much damage as some of the more Bulked up swords like the Elvens one, but yeah it looks kinda cool.

Well I want a really cool katana then :p

Atm my character is light armour, charismatic and good with a sword. I made a custom class and just called it adventurer as I couldn't think of anything better. IS there a way to change that? Just wondering.

I don't think I ever bought any armour or weapons from a merchent, you get loads of stuff from missions etc...

By the way, if anyone decided to become a vampire keep us update, I'd like to know how you get on, I'm sure you'll like it.

Agreed, I customise and enchant armour that I find for whatever I need and sell the other good stuff.

I've been a full vampire since lvl 8 with my evil character, and he's currently lvl 30 with 132 infamy ;) . Certainly gives a different outlook compared to my good character (same lvl too). Haven't closed any gates with the evil one either (and find they're quite boring with my good guy).

yes! you can join ALL the guilds at once if you like! just be sure to obay the rules of the guilds you are currently in!

only if you forget to eat.

I didn't do the story till I'd got top levels in ALL the guilds.
also as i am now im a level 0 vamp so i can walk in the sunlight.. but i want to progress to 5 or whatever it is? how do i do that?
you just don't eat for a few days (sleeping helps) but beware you will start to take damage from sunlight if you go outside! so make sure you're waking up at night!

Okay thanks for that info there :) so if i dont eat then i get more skills / spells but die in the sunlight fair enough :P think ill stay as a daywalker then :)

its good, just don't go out during the day, if you have a house (if not why not!) then get inside it for daylight house and go out a night!

hey

glad to see other who like being a vampire, but i have to be honest it does become a bother sometimes...

ok guys i finished the game, but where to now?

any ideas how to make some money because i aint got NONE. (in the game of course) and dont feel like selling my armour.

The best source of money are marauder and bandit caves. I'm assuming that you are a reasonable level, because with the leveled loot tables you only get rich as you advance: under level 10 means very little money.

Of those, Rockmilk caverns is the usual fave (north of Leyawiin), but I also like Fort Nikel (just past the end of the bridge West of the Imperial City) and Fort Andressa (SE of the Imperial City, near the other big bridge).

Remember, all cells respawn after three game days...

Right, I've justed joined the Blades and got my nice Katana back . Didn't bother with their armour as it's all heavy and I'm light.

Quick question, am I right in thinking that if you kill an NPC or nick anything guards will know and treat you accordingly regardless of if anyone saw you do the crime to start with?

I just paid a fine so I could talk to the guards 'cause I didn't like the idea of being to infamous so early on in the game. But then I guess if I want to join the Dark Brotherhood my names going to be known for all the wrong reasons anyway?

Killing NPC: guards will only come if they see you commit the crime. I killed some master trainer out in the wilderness and no-one knew (except DB). I aslo killed the DB visitor with my good character - will have to post a screenie of that - he can't join the DB now though.

Stealing: If no-one sees you it's yours, unless you get stopped due to bounty and have to hand all stolen items over.

Your infamy will rise doing DB quests ;)

thanks for the tip, will have to start going to all these places.

but the game finished and i am stil walking around is this correct?

there does not seem anything major left for me to do? I am the lizzard character, this time want to restart with someone else.

and what is this level stuff you talk about? do you mean when you go to load a saved game and it says the level 25 there?

also guys, what is the most powerful weapon you have? i have something called a draemora(sp?) sword, its hit points i think is 11 but hooked it up with a Siegel stone and it cuts thought anything that comes at me.

thanks

Yes, in a sense. That is your character's level. In the game, all monsters and loot are spawned to (mostly) match your level, unless you run mods which alter this. Thus, at level five you will meet level five monsters (rats, wolves etc) and get level five loot (leather armour etc). At level twenty-five you will (mostly) meet level twenty-five monsters (atranochs, xivilai etc) and get level twenty-five loot (daedric armour, glass armour etc). After about level 20 most of the monsters stay the same, but now they are spawned at a level similar to yours, rather than fixed by their type. Thus at level forty-five, a xivilai will be somewhere around level forty-five, even though they start appearing at level twenty. The loot gets better until about level twenty-five, after which only a couple of quest-related items get slightly better, and they top out at level thirty.

I JUST started this game after seeing my brother faff around with the 360 version :p

Auto detect set it to ultra high quality, which is niiiiiiice! and so I choose a Breton, purely based on the magic aspect.

Who knows, was that a bad idea?
