Being ambitious when applying for a new Job?

You probably won't get a senior or manager role but they may create a role for you. I would look at junior roles as they are more suited to you. I think the reality is a graduate role is the most suited. Your experience may get you a little more but most importantly it will get you a job over every other person applying.

One of the two tomorrow is a Non Senior role but still well paid.

It's kind of a hard position because they have said (assuming they aren't trying to soften the blow) I've been the second choice both times and the best technically and I am competing on the same level as all the other candiates.

So it's not like I've been told I'm batting above my weight, so its kind of difficult to decide whether I should keep aiming for the same level or not.

Ok so out of the 5 interviews I ended up going for in total.

  1. I was best technically but they wanted someone a bit more consumer focused.
  2. Best technically again but they said they wanted to play it safe and hire someone with more years experience.
  3. Haven't heard back yet.
  4. Was offered the job but at the base salary of £16k on a £16-£22k role, I said i would be looking for near the top as I am earning nearly £18k doing part time work currently. They said no thanks they have plenty of other candiates.
  5. Was offered the job again and I accepted!

Yay!!

It doesn't matter though does it? If someone is willing to give you an inflated title then you take it and run with it.

All that matters is that you have a chance to learn new things, your pay reflects what you do, and the job title isn't going to impede you jumping ship in two years.
