All last week had to work stupidly hard, getting servers rebuilt and deploy to 80 odd users and setting up thin clients etc. Worked closely with a 'consultant' who tbh just sat around, but forced me to pick up a lot quickly.

Anyway today back at main office and my manager comes up to me for a catch up chat of what i've been doing for a week and a half :p and then said i worked very hard all week and was much appreciated, thanks.

Just thought it was a nice of him really that he noticed :)

Very rare thing to happen really !

Yep, it's always nice for me when a client personally thanks me for the work done and how happy she/he is. :)

thats cool :D - its great when you get thanked, especially at work; i know a few people who bend over backwards and get no recognition

im touch and go at work, a few managers say nothing others are really good. Considering im meant to just sit at the phone and i end up fixing computers, training staff on the new PC upgrades cos my managers aint got a clue.

Fortunatly for all my good work they do allow me to get away with a bit more, like having time off for exams without to much fuss :)

To show my team I really appreciate their efforts, I've signed off a £3k bonus (or equiv. in € for the foreigners) for each of them.

nice one there,

i feel most companies these days do not appriciate the work some people put into it, effort wise im talking

the odd thanks, your a valued member etc really does go a long way for a 2 second remark

Nice one :)
It's always good when that happens. I know one of my managers is always good at saying thanks if I provide cover at short notice or if I stay later than usual to help out etc.
Definitely makes me feel appreciated as well as more willing to help out there.

Nothing says 'thank you' quite like a fat wad of cash!

People should remember this when I send them birthday cards, I feel.

I got a pat on the back and well done from one of the directors after managing to bring round a project that a previous member of staff had let get way behind schedule and then left the company.

My manager was re-negotiating pay for the two of us and he was more than happy to change my job role and pay me an extra £2.5k a year and I think him seeing my work the two weeks before hand helped.... Now I just need to wait and see if the other director and chaiman agree :o

Roll on Thursdays directors meeting :D

That one thing my workplace, and espacially my boss is great at. They always thank you and complement you on good work. I really makes for a better working atmosphere. :)

What Thin Client set up are you using out of interest?

We're rolling to a few hundred as I type.

on Windows 2003 server running Citrix presentation server v4.0

With Powerfuse running on the client machines, on Neoware thin clients.

Seems to do the job very well, i think the users just like how they look :)

I'm always getting praise from my Manager and the company directors :)

I'm on about £3k less than I was on when I was working for nthell but there's some things you just can't equate to money
