Being hungover at work

I don't drink but I think if anyone is even seen as being slightly tipsy should be sent back home. Too many times have I seen negligence at work where the night shift have mistreated pallets of stock(with forklifts) and not even given a damn about it and still put it out. Then us peeps in the day time have to spend half of the day writing off what would have otherwise been perfectly good stock

Be thankful I'm not your boss. Turn up unfit for work, and you're well on the way to collecting your P45. If you have work in the morning and get so wasted that you are possibly still drunk the next day, you're asking for trouble.

I think most people under 30 have the odd day where thney turn up feeling rough at work... my boss included, t's not the end of the world as long as you can still get on with your job.

And to all those who say "I don't get hangovers no matter how much I drink" I didn't either till I hit 23... and then boom I get them on a regular basis. Older you get, worse they become...

I'm 35. Still don't get them.

Maybe not for everyone in the world, but for the vast majority my statement stands true. At least for the bulk of the people I know between the ages of 20 and 35...

True. All my friends say their hangovers are getting worse the older they get.

I find it hard to believe that you have never had a hangover, how much do you drink when you go out?

You can find it as hard to believe as you like, it's simply the truth. In the past I've drunk enough to not have any recollection of several hours in the middle of my night out yet have woken up feeling fine. I've drunk my boyfriend under the table on vodka then looked after him the next day while he was throwing up. It's just the way I am.

Work rang me at 9am to ask would I like to come in today on my day off.

I was drinking Magners until 1am so replied in the negative. In fact I still feel like crap now, never had a hangover like this off the beer.

Glad you're not my boss then :p

I'm not unfit for work, just a bit slower due to lack of sleep :p

Which in most companies would get you sacked simple as that, turning up to work whilst under the influence is as far as im concerned gross misconduct as you still have alcohol in your system. Not only that your a danger to your colleagues. I know for certain you would be dismissed without a second thought if you worked for my company.

Working in a nightclub/bar/pub isnt so much a big deal tbh as during the day its quiet.

I was a bit shocked when I've heard colleagues saying how they're still drunk (I work as a data inputter for the NHS) after being out all night - sure, I've turned up a little worse-for-wear before, but nothing that I have to broadcast. And the management genuinely don't care.

Well tbh I'm not really a danger to my colleagues, working in a small sales company of 5 people, completely different environment than most jobs, and very relaxed.

Not that this justifies it, but my boss does it quite frequently too :D
