I took out an old board and rubbed it up and down on a carpet and it was fine when I plugged it back in , mind I always like to touch the pipe on a radiator before I assemble any gear. but its pretty safe, just handle with care and dont go touching any gold bits .

I did once kill a pc many years ago by hoovering it out, not so good it went back under warrenty lolz.

I normally leave the case and power suppy hooked up to the mains but turned off so it is grounded and touch the case before starting work.
