Belgium Grand Prix 2013, Spa-Francorchamps - Race 11/19

Cannot wait, always a cracking race!!!

Looking forward to Skeeter updates, I'll be doing similar from Singapore next month ;):)

C'mon Mercedes, bring the fight to finger boy! :D

Gutted I couldn't justify incorporating the Spa GP weekend as well as the Monza weekend but unfortunately SWMBO didn't have enough holiday to do both :(

Id like to see Mercedes do well with Lotus nipping at their heels to put a nice buffer between Vettel and the chasers.

I'd love to go to Singapore, I bet the prices are horrendous though! What are the general costs involved?

Take what you think is expensive and x3 :D

Main Grandstand and initial first few corners are something silly like £650 for the weekend, but the Grandstand we're in (Stamford or Connaught) is circa £350. In China on the back row of the Grandstand at the end of the DRS straight it was £117 and you could see 70% of the track :(

We've done well on fidning a hotel in a great location which isn't crazy expensive. About 8 of us going there; me from the UK and others who work in Shanghai & Bangkok.

I know the race won't be as good viewing as it was in China the last few years, but the experience will be great and partying WILL be epic!!!

Cool, then there's the cost of flights too ! I'd just love to see the cars at night, must look amazing.

I went to Singapore a couple of years ago and it's a great event. Granted the racing isn't the best on the calendar but there's nothing quite like the noise of those cars in the city under floodlights.

Tickets are expensive - from memory 100 quid-ish for general walkabout (zone 4?) for the weekend up to ~500 quid for the average seats.

Hotels will be crushingly expensive if you are anywhere near the track. Typically ours was within walking distance of Zone 1 - which would have been great if we could have afforded 500 quid upwards for tickets in that zone!

Circuit access is great as the MRT (tube) obviously runs under the city - it's spacious, regular and most importantly air conditioned :D

Access around the circuit is easy as the MRT subways are used to move people under the track - it works very well.

EDIT: I see Bieber is the concert "entertainment" this year - haha!

Epic elevations are epic.

Turn 9 looking right across to the pits:

About half way down Kemmel straight looking across to turns 14 and 15:

You can quite literally stand and watch the weather happen in isolated areas.

You can't talk about Spa and refer only to corner numbers.

(With the exception of turn 9, which hasn't really had a name for years - some used to refer to it as "Copenhague").

Turn 1, La Source
Turn 2, Raidillon, a.k.a. "Eau Rouge"
Turn 3, Les Combes
Turn 4, Malmedy
Turn 5, Rivage
Turn 6
Turn 7, Pouhon (double left)
Turn 8, Fagnes
Turn 9, Campus
Turn 10, Malmedy
Turn 11, Paul Frere
Turn 12, Blanchimont
Turn 13, Bus-Stop Chicane

I have no clue for Turn 6

Turn 9 doesn't have a name, and Eau Rouge is the first of 3 corners as it used to be a 90 left, and its where the track crosses the stream.

Can't say I know of too many tracks which have two completely different corners with the same name. ;)

Flipping heck, that goes back to the 30s! Can't say I've heard of that layout being used much except for some old club events.

The road still exists, but is just an access road and the bit near the track is now run off.

Does the middle bit of Eau Rouge have a name? The left kink at the bottom is Eau Rouge, and the left at the top of the hill is Raidillon, but the sweeping steep right in the middle doesn't really have a name, its just inherited Eau Rouge as a name for the whole 3 turn segment.

Either way, frigging epic corner, which I shall be stood on the apex of on Sunday afternoon :D

Tempted to take some Hovis...

Lewis needs another pole here to stay out of trouble. I think this is a 3 horse race Lewis\vimto\Alonso

if he doesn't win here or get a podium he's in massive trouble as monza isn't world's away from the characteristics of this track.

He'll be out of contention imo if he DNFs and Vettel wins, for instance, or if the car is just **** here.
