My friend has a wireless router but he is connected to his PC by the ethernet cable. One day it just randomly stopped working, he didnt change any hard/software. He says the ADSL and Wireless lights are not lighting up. Could this be the router/cables or anything else? Thanks

he is using the same power supply as he always has. He said he cant get onto the admin page (192.168.2.1) if that helps at all.

Has he rest it by sticking a pen in the reset hole??

or unplugging/turnign off all computers from the network and then unplugging + replugging in the router. Does the same job as reset button but this way you know it did it right ;).

the problem could have been something causing the router to reset, unplugging it etc. whilst another computer plugged in/connected to the router, is still on, because for some reason it wont find the net if its reset with a computer still connected.

He has tried reset button and just about everything else. What could be the reason for the 192.168.2.1 not showing up? Has that got to be the cable or something?

I got the router off him and tried it, basically the DSL light and Wireless doesnt light up-so its broke??

I guess from this and the comments the message for the future is that belkin=broken?

Lots of Belkin kit sold, most works well enough or the company would be out of business!

If you have any Belkin lights on at all you may be able to reset it to factory defaults. Usually by pressing the recessed reset button with a paper clip/pencil with the power on for 10 or more seconds.

No lights at all probably means duff power supply (try another if possible).

Suspect duff internal components and a scrap router if the above does nothing.
