hello,

I am new to the exciting world of belt sanding and recently bought myself a bosch pbs 75 a belt sander.

The device has a belt self alignment mechanism that should ensure that the belt is in the correct spot.

Sadly however, when doing some initial sanding the belt seems to have tracked towards the inside of the device and has begun to fray.

Is this likely to be an issue with the device and how it is set up or an operator error whilst sanding?

Thanks for your views.

Hmm, the marketing blub says "Manual belt alignment is not required as the belt is automatically held in the correct work position while sanding" so that suggests that it wouldn;t need alignment in use.

My old belt sander needed fiddling with alignment very often, but it didn;t have the self alignment mechanism.

They `should not`require adjusting in use but best to keep an eye on them especially if you are on you last belt in the shed :D

To be honest the belt started shredding within minutes of first use.

I was wondering if these things need to be kept flat with respect to the wood you are sanding of it they are OK to be used on edges etc..
