Benchmark has to be wrong right?

Ok i just brought a hitachi 7k160 160 gb for ocuk 4 days ago thinking it would be faster than my maxtor dianmondmax 8
the benchies show it isnt
did i think wrong or is it just setup wrong

i asumed my hitachi would be the 160gb platter version am i right?

I'd say you have a controller limitation there. Notice how the figures for both drives are exceedingly similar in nearly all respects; I'd say its the controller bottlenecking.
Checking the drive settings in the BIOS & the controller properties in Windows is all I can really suggest TBH.

The traces look fine although I would have expected the Hitachi to be maybe 10Mb/s or so faster at the start of the disk.

There's no bottleneck on the controller, if there was the trace would be flat.

What's the board that they're connected to?

ok this is werid i typed in the hard drive number into google it gave me site for the t7k250 160gb hard drive :confused:

what should i do rma it or ask for ocuk to give me a new one or leave it as it is

maybe a little slow - but could be down to the IDE controller

yer i know that
thats why my games load faster becuase im at the faster part of the drive 60mb/s+
the problem is that on tomshardware my drive hits an average 65mb/s while mine only hit 50 odd

I see, are there any jumpers on the drive? If there are, they may be limiting what the drive can do for compatibility purposes.
