Really?? So much rubbish in this article.

Coloured (Love the BBC for correcting the spelling by the way)
In the US, because of the country's recent era of racial segregation, it is among the most offensive words for describing a black person.

Yet as mentioned in the article...

Founded in 1909, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People) is a huge organisation in the US; it seeks to end discrimination on the basis of race.

And don't get me started on

"Mixed race is a misleading term since it implies that a 'pure race' exists."
They advise alternatives including "mixed parentage" and "dual heritage".

Let's take something that has a very literal meaning (biological arguments against racial classes aside) and replace it with something that is absolutely stupid

Did he mean to be offensive? from a skim read very obviously not so anyone taking offence needs to take a long hard look at themselves.

He was describing how black/coloured actors don't have as much opportunity here. It was not meant to be offensive at all and is a complete non-story.

from what i understand he was actually sticking up for err, that particular minority, at the time.

did i manage that without offending anyone?

Nope by calling them a minority you're implying they're not big enough to care about...

Or something completely unrelated to the point #rage.

anti-racism campaigners are just shooting themselves in the foot when they decide to start an outrage about someone who is quite clearly trying to put across an anti-racism message

tis like this incident:

there was a whole twitter campaign to cancel his show completely missing the point that it was satire and his whole message was one of anti-racism

If their black, call them black, coloured is incorrect then, as it is a descriptor of difference.

But if you are referring people from a variety of ethnicities, what then? "Non-white" sounds far worse than "coloured".

We should start using hex codes to describe skin colour. Surely they can't complain about that :p?
