Diesels are just tested for smoke

They have two way catalysts and DPFs.

Yeah if it fails emmisions then it does not get an mot cert so driving it on the road is illegal. Unless if its a pre J reg with a cat then you can remove and still pass emmisions

This will change for next year; removal of a manufacture fitted cat is now reason for an MOT failure.
