Has anyone noticed any ghosting or bluurry effects during some high paced action using the BenQ FP 214W 24" LCD? I have just gne from a 20" Viesonic with a 8ms refresh rate...to the BenQ which is supposed to be 6ms...and Im sure Im experiencing ghosting during a lot of action in online FPS's.
If you own one of these...please let me know if you are getting the same or not.

Thanks

I'm guessing your viewsonic was a tn panel?

People sooo gotta realise this "tn panels are inferior" people keep saying is a load of rubbish and suggests they've never had both alongside eachother. I did a recent comparison of the 226bw vs dell 2407 and i must say that on first person shooters the 2407 was shockingly bad but pretty brilliant at everything else. I don't think the benq will be too drastically different. What games are you noticing the ghosting on?

The viewsonic I had before was the 20” widescreen 2025wm. I don’t think this was a TN panel…and I had a TN panel Samsung before. The viewsonic had far better colours and also viewing angles than the TN panel I had previously. I cant fault the Viewsonic at all during gaming.

As said I purchased the 24” BenQ last week….and at desktop its stunning! Its colorful and vibrant. Its also the same while gaming…but am constantly noticing a blurring/ghosting effect effect mostly in BF2 and BF 2142 (which I play most). Believe it or not when I first got the screen last week….I was feeling sick while playing it…It was like a motion sickness feeling. I am obviously now used to the screen…and am noticing the ghosting more.

I was thinking about actually sending it back as Ive only had a few days. But I love the big screen…and just wondered if everyone else had this issues with the bigger screens. If I change it for the Dell 2407….will it be the same? I had read many reviews saying that the image on the BenQ is superior to the Dell also:confused:

i dont understand why your screen is ghosting. i have the same screen as you and play games such bf2 without any ghosting. i also have the ps3 hooked up via hdmi and playing games like resistance and formula 1 show no visible ghosting.

Some people notice it a lot more then others (also some people don't notice it much because they so used to it)

I have never noticed this on any LCD before..Im not sure if I am seeing it becasue its so big compared the others. This is supposed to be a faster panel than my last...so im going to plug my in my old one tonight...and see if I can notice a difference. Is there anything in the settings etc. that I should be selecting...should I install any drivers????

it sounds like your just the type of person who notices the ghosting more, just like me.

I think you'll find exactly the same problem with the dell 24", i doubt its anything to do with the drivers. My girlfriend plays on first person shooters on my dell 24" pc sometimes and think its perfect, i think its horrendous for them. Your best bet would be to go for a 226bw, you'll lose 2"'s and they do seem very noticably smaller, the colours won't be as good but you'll notice a lot less motion sickness and overall imo its better "bang for buck".

I have both sat alongside each other right now and its pretty clear neither of them is 'better' allround but for ghosting/blurring, the samsung 226bw is unbelievably better.

yes the ghosting is normal i sent the panel back i had ordered (benq fp241w)

didnt like the colours either and brightness is too high even lowering it its still too high.

personally i could have lived with that ghosting tho it's was the colours for me compared to old faithful crt.

the monitor does have brightness and colour controls which could have been used to emulate the dull crt ;)

Ghosting is inherent in all lcd screens (depends how sensitive you are to it to see it) so replacing prolly wont help. My previous benq Fp21w ghosts quite badly(even scrolling on desktop), but this screen is great. only noticed a very slight amount of ghosting on greys while playing soldier of fortune 2. Am detemined to complete this game which ive been playing since release. ai is quite annoying even on normal, hardest fps game ever i think and there are not many i havent finished ;)

Thanks for your input guys. At least I know that its not just me then. Others with this LCD are getting the same. I think I notice it more on this screen due to the size of if over others I have had. I actually love the screen at desktop...and must be getting more used to it cos Im starting not to notice so much blurrrying in the games now. Another issue is that I have noticed a dead pixel just off the centre of the screen. Although I dont notice it (its white on black) I still know its there...and the BenQ pixel policy seems rediculus....5 allowed with this size of monitor. I think its going back.

I consider myself lucky with only one stuck pixel from the three TFT's I've owned. My 2407fpw has none, but I'm sure you get a zero dead pixel guarantee with Dell.

As for the ghosting, i tried looking for it on my 2407fpw when playing stalker, and if i really tried, i could see some ghosting. When I'm just playing and not looking for it, I just do not notice it at all.

Your not get a replacement from any company todate for one dead pixel after RMA/7 days are up(not 100% but %99).Yes its a joke , I think at one point samsung was going to do it but only did for the high end models used in industry. And yes TN panels right now wont be beat at GAMING due to the 2ms.But if you want the all rounder its got to be the dell.I got a media centre pc setup with a 32" samsung to watch dvd's so the VA and not so good colour was not a problem for me.Games look great i have never had any ghosting apart from when i crank up the fps in some games by turning the eye candy down like cod2 at 400-600 fps (at times of cause not stable) and UT1 etc.

my plan now is to invesitgate the pioneer 8g for gaming with the pc for me no lcd can cut it this new plasma seems it might be the answer to my prayers tho they dont come cheap 1500 quid for 42" gulp
