** BENQ XR3501 35" CURVED MONITOR HAS LANDED!! **

I would personally like to see one of these in action before casting judgment I think the 1080 res would help keep it at its best as these 3440x1440 displays would need titan x sli to run at that res and frame rate and not everyone can afford nearly 3k on some cards and a screen lol

That's a fair point actually, 1440p UW is 1.8x bigger than 1080p UW so you will get along a lot better with less top end cards..

But at the same time, you could just downscale 1440p to 1080p so it's not really an excuse. Is it a bandwidth limitation on DP1.2?

What sort of gaming does this cater for?

Seems too big for online FPS gaming, I would rather have a smaller screen for that with G-Sync.

For MMORPG's you can get the BenQ BL3200PT 32" 2560 x 1440P for £389 and thats got an AMVA panel too, don't need 144Hz for that as they run well at 30 fps.

I'll most likely purchase two screens to cater for my needs at some point, pity there's no 27" 1440P monitors using AMVA panels.

I first started using VA panels with a 19" around 10 year ago, on my 3rd one now.
(P-MVA) 19" Viewsonic VP191b
(S-PVA) 24" Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP A04
(A-MVA) 24" NEC MultiSync 24WMGX3

It caters to those who want an ultra-wide experience (great for immersion) but also like the high refresh rates... That being said, it loses its uniqueness with the X34 and the FreeSync version. - Neither have 144Hz, but I'd imagine after 80-90 the difference becomes negligible.

£700 for 1080 144hz? Yeah I'll continue waiting until a full package arrives, it's so annoying because right now you'd have to choose between UHD/144hz/IPS/Freesync/G-Sync etc.

Acer XR341CK/X34 will be the closest thing to perfect, really.

The former is 3440x1440, 75Hz, IPS, and FreeSync, the latter is 3440x1440, 100Hz, IPS and G-Sync. Both come with a hefty price tag, though.

Agreed, ££££££££££££££££££££!! Esp the Gsync version, it's nuts!!

Tbh if this had Gsync it'd be £200 more :(

Shame these went back up to £690 ... £630 was a relatively reasonable price. Though I feel these will be going for £550-580 in a couple of months.

It's still a bit high, given that you can get the much more expensive Samsung S34E790C for £650 if you look around a bit, but it isn't TOO bad.
