Bent CPU Pins Help!

Anyway, I best say thank you guys for your input. I really didn't know what to do. Also, Holwill, you live just (I say just...) down the road from me. I live in Torquay :D Small world.

Yeah neighbour :D 10 mins away, hopefully moving to kingskerswell or Aller Brake in the near future. Glad to see you got it sorted.

That's why you don't pull your heatsink up, you rotate it few times and slide it to the side ; ).

Also, if they were pins bent, you would feel it when placing the CPU in.
If the CPU has all pins 100% straight, it will just 'drop in' without any pressure at all and if even one of the pins is bent slightly you would have to push it in - so whenever you see the CPU not going in by just the force of mavity - check the pins.

The other thing you might check next time you bent pins as well is the CPU pin schematic which shows which pin is used for what - some of them are emergency pins and are not needed for the CPU to run.

^ Thank you for the information. I will remember in future to remove it the correct way, as I don't plan on going through this again.

Say fixed in 775 and i7, its just when you return the mobo for RMA they say you bent the pins instead of RMA'ing a CPU and they say you bent that! :p

Man its so easy to bend those types of cpu pins and put them straight
what you have to watch out for is dont bend them back and forth or they will snap.

you should try bending the pins in a I7 socket like i had to do
i had to bend 4 pins in my socket and that was a mission but i did it ;)

those pins are hard. good luck though im sure you will fix it there pritty easy those pins.
