Going to Berlin on wed for a few days, got a conference on friday,so will have a free day on thursday, anything i should look out for that stands out for anyone who has been:)

I went to Berlin a few years ago and thought it was a nice place to visit, and would go again.

The zoo / aquarium were pretty cool.

There are plenty of historical sites to visit, such as the wall.

The Reichstag is an awesome building, and if I remember correctly, it was free to get in.

I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember.

Have fun!

There is none of the wall left, except one small little piece. Its been pulled down. Germans dont do bad memories:) Get yourself to a restaraunt for a jagerschnitzel mit pommes and a nice german beverage. Then take a stroll round the Tiergarten and go visit the Brandenburg gate

I love Berlin, one of my favourite places in Europe so far!

I love the way the Germans have rebuilt the city, they have tastefully remembered the war. They don't so much as get rid of everything but they obviously don't want to go around shoving what has happened there in your face.

I would recommend a concentration camp tour if you get a chance, they are done rather well but make sure you rug up as they are quite cold out in the open.

Just grab a tourist map when you get there and it has all the attractions you need to know about, it depends on what you like they have everything ranging from war memorial business to the cony centre/village thing with its eccentric architecture etc.

Most of the wall is gone, there are traces here and there and one site left for tourists.

The most accesible part of the wall remaining is located next to the 'Topography of Terror', a very interesting, free, open air museum. Thats a couple of blocks from Checkpoint Charlie, worth a gander if you're interested.

Well in fairness in comparison to the size of the Berlin wall in its full form it is a small piece. Its not like it used to be in Berlin where the wall was omnipresent thats what i was getting at.

As for concentration camp tours. Whilst posted in Germany I visited the camp at Belsen. Probably one of the most eye opening and moving experiences of my life.

Im just back from Berlin a few weeks ago. If you like a steak, the marriot has a hotel attached in Potz Platz, best steak ive ever eaten although it was a bit pricey. The open air museum near checkpoint charlie was good although like a bit of an idiot I walked it the wrong way, start from left to right (duh, right?).

The dome is well worth going up, the views are amazing. Food was brilliant, best ive had in europe along with the beer!

Loved Berlin, would defo go there again.

As every has said already....The Zoo, all the monuments (which most can be reached by a tour bus which is worth doing just to go around the city and see all sorts)

Check Point Charlie is pretty cool, museum there as well

Berlin is a great city.

You can walk from the Brandenburg Gate down to the Fernsehturm (big television tower, can't miss it) is about an hour, passing many of Berlin's best sights along the way. Well worth it.

Really enjoyed Berlin, took the girlfriend for a long weekend earlier this year. Lots to see and do, loads of fantastic buildings.

i found it a pretty dull city tbh, but visiting the Brandenburg Gate, Wall and zoo were the highlights.
