As the title suggests I am after some 140mm fans. The fans that came with my X61 have an annoying whine (i have added oil, and even silicone grease... still poo)
I cant be arsed with sending the fans back as i was planning on upgrading them anyway.
I have been looking at the Noctua NF-A14 PPC 3000rpm But they are rather expensive. I am looking for maximum performance for the money (who isn't lol)

Any other suggestions will be much appreciated!!

I'd go with the Noctua, TBH. High SP and still relatively quiet at 25dB.
That, or the Corsair ML140 (assuming specs are accurate), maybe the Blacknoise NB Pro PK-3... 37 and 33dB respectively.

Those are about your best for high static pressure 140 fans, before values start to tail off.

Yeah thanks, i will invest in the Noctua, with 6 year warranty and build quality to boot... should have been an easy decision, but you know what its like lol. thanks :)

Noctua NF-A14 IPPC are also noise, even at low rpm. They are industrial server fans, and are not designed to be quiet.

CLC radiators require high pressure high airflow fans to run cool. This means they will be noisy if you need to run them fast. There is no other way to get the air though them.

TY-147A is a great fan. I love all TY-14x fans. But they are not only 1300rpm and are round on 2 sides with 120mm fan mounting holes. The TY-143 sq (new model just being released) are very good. They are available in Germany on that south American river site, but I haven't seen any here in UK yet .. well I have seen some, the ones I tested. They are great fans if you don't mind red housings and orange fan blades. ;) Highly recommended.

one of the ek vardar 140mm fans? bit cheaper than noctua generally speaking and only slightly less performance at the same rpm. have a range of different rpm's and generally one of the best performing fans at an okay price. just be ready for noise if you are cranking the rpm up

Thermalright TY-147a, easily as good as anything Noctua @ £5.
That £5 buys you 73CFM... Even the non PPC Noctua kicks out 82CFM. The PPC does 158!!
Not sounding so good now... Add to that absolutely zero accessories and their website doesn't even mention warranty anywhere obvious - Certainly not one I would buy.
If I want a £5 fan, I'll buy Silverstone.

OP said performance... didn't even mention noise. :p

The TY-147A is actually a £15.00 fan and it puts out the same cfm at same rpm at same noise level and same mm H2O as similar Nocs do. :p The £5 ones were a few years back and were being sold off. Most were TY-147, not TY-147A, but basically same fan. TY-147A is 300-1300rpm while TY-147 was 550-1300rpm (spec was 800rpm, but they idled at 550rpm). Only down side is they are not square and have 105mm mount spacing (120mm fan size). I[m sure Thermalright is 2 or maybe 3 year warranty, but they last much longer. I have some of the original TY-140 (same fan different color) that have been running for over 5 years, some 24/7 and not a single problem. I'm talking like 10 of them, so it's not a one-off kind of thing.

But yeah, OP did not sya how loud was acceptable. :o

Noctua is a £10-15-ish fan with about a tenner's worth of cables, screws and dampeners, plus a 6-year warranty, so you get your money's worth.
The TYs also have a reputation for clicking, while Nocs have one for specifically not...

I've been running the same 9 Noctuas since 2012, most of which were second hand to begin with.
To that end, I'd say Nocs are at least the equals of the Thermalrights...

Given the type of fan he was asking about to begin with, I'd therefore figure noise is not a concern... just Jeremy Clarkson levels of "POWAHHHHHHHH"... :D

I've heard a few complaints over the years about clicks in all PWM fans, including Nocs. I think it has more to do with the PWM controller than the fan. Honestly, the Nocs are maybe a little better, but either way they are quite close.
Thermalright is becoming quite hard to get now. I have sources so no problems. Even have a bunch of their new square TY-147A sq and TY-143 sq now. I haven't seen any at super low prices in a long time.

Yeah! Bring on the 'POWAHHHHH..' :D

I've always been a Noc fan, they never let me down, with my H440 case, I needed some good static pressure fans, and was not let down
