Best 1440p Gsync monitor under £500

I'm in the market for a new monitor and this Dell 27" looks like a great price for potentially a great monitor.

Will I regret not buying a 4K monitor though? As I only use my PC for gaming I guess 144hz refresh for 1440p/gsync is much better?
Depends what PC you have, if your graphic card can run your games 4k60fps then go for it.But i prefer high refresh rate than 4k display.

I have a 1080ti, but given that I play a few shooters, I too wondered about the refresh rate.

Destiny 2 in 4k goodness might be amazing, but if the refresh rate ruins it..

The whole TN/IPS thing threw me a little take the Agon AG271QG above for example, and setting aside QC issues for a second, its almost £200 more. Does it really make much difference? I do some photo/video editing, but it sounds like the most important thing is to actually calibrate the monitor properly.

This being described as a great price is so frustrating. Over a year ago these screens were about £380. Now the market is so damn expensive.

I'd have hoped for a downward curve in monitor prices by now but it seems they prefer to screw us over with old technology.

I'm, not usually one for moaning about prices but also look at graphics cards at the moment, it looks like the nVidia line are going to sustain their pricing for 2 years and could quite possibly be MORE to buy at the end of it's life than at launch!! Crazy stuff, and don't think it's ever been known...

The only positive is that a good gsync/freesync screen will prolong your graphics cards life a fair bit, as it'll manage low frames a lot better (friend has a 970 and XB270HU for instance and he's pretty happy with it! Reckon it'll last him another year/18 months at least)

I personally got a good PG348Q for £600 and was only a few months old, so their are some s/h bargains around)

You're right its not a great price with hindsight, but given that I wasn't looking over a year ago, in the current market it seems reasonable.

But prices are expensive, yes we're getting ripped off, what about that is likely to change in the near future, heck even the near-mid future? I've just found out I can get a 20% discount on Dell Monitors through work so I'll avail myself of that and get the 27".

High refresh over 4K - 4K wasn’t enough of a jump from 1440P for me to make it worthwhile. Where as high refresh is something else

What people forget, is you can kind of get a "fake" 4k experience with Dynamic Super Resolution; I use it at 1440P to upscale to 4k and it does make a difference; obviously not 4k but it improves your visuals quite drastically while also maintaining high refresh. :)

I’d rather have the more consistent frame rates over rendering in 4K (I’m assuming it runs the game in 4K or other higher resolution). 1440P looks fantastic - definitely the perfect resolution for PC currently.

Yeah; I understand that; however it just allows you to get a taste of the experience without shelling out for a 4k specific monitor. If you've got the grunt you can push your 1440P further and get even better visuals.

Oh right I see what you mean now - definitely worth considering over using anti aliasing. Will offer a sharper image without the need of extra processing :)
