An integrated amp in speakers in is never a good.

You couldn't be more wrong. Virtually every mid- to high-end studio speaker worth using will be active. Look at the most popular brands: Mackie, Genelec, Dynaudio, Adam and so on all do excellent active speakers because it's the best way to ensure than the driver, enclosure and amp are matched to produce the flattest possible response, whilst minimising interference and noise from cable runs.

ya like i said in my previous post, i meant cheapy active speakers (£200). I already know enough about high end active speakers and im actually starting to look at a pair of dynaudios anyway.

I think I'm going to go for these Audio Engine Speakers...
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-020-AE

They have had excellent reviews... from hifi buffs not geeks

I don't have the space for seperates anyway.

Have you received these yet? Im interested in a pair also, but 2 version have been released (well from the pix I've seen). 1 ver. has spring clips on the back a newer version has binding posts and a sub pre-out: which have you received from OCuk?

----"Quote from there co-founder!"

I thought I'd mention that we're now shipping with these new features:

1. 5-way speaker binding posts (gold-plated screw-down type replaces the plastic spring clip speaker connectors found on earlier versions).

2. Direct subwoofer outputs. This is a full-range output to go directly into a sub input.

The white finish is high-gloss and the new black version is semi-matte black to hide fingerprints and scratches. Both white and black include the same new features, which is something people have been asking about for some reason.

As far as availability of the A5 in the UK, we are now listed on competitor (edited):

I'm surprised you didn't mention how great these speakers work with the Airport Express! This seems to be what a large majority of our customers do and we're working on a sub that also has an AC outlet on the back to allow for a "wireless-ready sub".

Also just FYI, the AC output jack for the UK market is an EU plug - I think I sent you a US version as the EU plugs weren't shipping yet.

I haven't ordered them yet... I want to order them from OcUK but the release date keeps getting put back, i'll give it another week max before looking elsewhere.

I don't have the space, which is the only reason I'm going down this route, might as well get the best 2.0 speakers I can
