Hi all, trying to find the best monitor for money in both 20" size, and 22" size, it will be run as a dual screen set up, so far my short list is this:

Samsung SM-206BW 20"
Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20"
Belinea 2230S1W Pro 22"
Viewsonic Vx2245 22"
Dell E207WFP 20"
CIBOX C2201 22''

Any other input or suggestions would be great, as well as which ones are best there.

The Samsung looks good as a 20" as it has a 3000:1 contrast ration, however specs are not everything so im not sure.

Also what do you all think of the:

LG M228QA 22"

I have a friend keep telling me about it, pointing out it has a 3000:1 Contrast ration, TV capabilities, and Scart conections etc.

However from what I have seen of LG in the past (And what I have been told about them) They tend to me prety poor.

Thanks for any help!

I wouldn't believe any specs that claim 3000:1 contrast ratios for an LCD. They just aren't capable of those numbers. They use 'Dynamic' contrast ratios to make the figures look good. As for which is the best, the Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20" has the best panel. All of the 22" LCD's use inferior TN panels.

I'm heading towards getting the Dell 2007wfp because of the vastly superior panel, sure you lose 2" of screen size but the resolution is the same of the TN panels so all you're really losing are larger pixels, so you'll get a sharper picture from the 20", win win situation?

(edit: noticed what you've written now and lol, I nearly always type ration when I mean ratio too.)

Dell!! :)

Have it myself and it was probably my best purchase this year, along with my MX518! ;)

Likewise,have never looked back.

Using my mates laptop justnow the screen changes colour if u move ** head....must be a tn panel :(

The E207WFP isn't particularly impressive - my Mum got one with her new Dell PC and while it's decent enough for her needs, it looks and feels a bit cheap (because it was - the PC cost £350). I've got the Samsung SM206BW and it's a much nicer display, regardless of it being cheaper too.

That said, I'd love a 2007WFP if I could have afforded one at the time!

I'd suggest the 21" Samsung 215TW, S-PVA panel, available these days for around £220 ...though I've just bought 2 brand new at £160 each!

What's the 215TW like for gaming? I'm thinking of getting either the 215TW or 2007WFP but have been a bit put off the 215TW due to people compalining about input lag.

Sorry to derail the thread, but I have a similar predicament. I'm going to build a new computer and need a new monitor to go with it. I was going to settle for a Samsung SM206BW, assuming it was pretty much the best 20" LCD on the market from what I had read, but now I hear the Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP has a superior panel, which I was unaware of (where do you find out what panels monitors use anyway? Link please?) I wouldn't mind spending the extra money, but at the moment every where else is at least £30 more expensive than overclockers, which is more than I want to spend. Unfortunately overclockers is out of stock and has no ETA on the monitor. Do you reckon the Samsung monitor is good enough for playing games, or should I wait for the Dell to come back into stock? (any word on how long that might be?)
