Tending towards the Seagate. Maxtor from past experience are a pile of [insert expletive here]. Always used to go WD, but now lost faith in them after a couple of recent cockups.

So Seagate? Samsung or HGST (IBM/Hitachi)?

Going to be using 4 of them in a RAID-5 array. Looking for all the obvious good points:

Speed
Low running temp
Low noise

Seagate. Good warranty so that RAID5 will last a long while if any replacements need to be made. Excellent speed - will absolutely flatten the others in transfer speeds thanks to the perpendicular recording. I've always liked them as I have lots of old and new Seagates, all of which are great drives. Mine run cool too and are quiet (my Seagate 320GB 7200.10 is especially quiet).

Indeed, mine has pink glue - not sure of the country as I can't be bothered to remove it from my case :p.

Nelly:

I have the Seagate Barracuda 320GB DATA II 7200.10 HDD, it has white glue and is made in China, but it is quiet and runs very well, Average read of over 66MB/s in HDTach (faster than my 74GB Raptors (8MB cache), very happy with it. ;)

I bought a 320GB Seagate 7200.10 and was very impressed with it, seems a lot faster at un-rar'ing files compared to my old Maxtor 9. I was that impressed I bought a 250Gb Seagate 7200.10 (16mb cache), got it today and imaged my old drive onto it, can hardly hear it running compared to the Maxtor. Seems faster but not that much so in Windows.

Benches seem normal for a 7200.10 so Im happy (its an IDE version anyway)
