Best £55 cpu for the money?

Got an E2180 running 100% stable at 3.4Ghz with Freezer Pro on an IP35-E.

Temps are about 65 under maximum stress.

I heart it.

Are you just playing games? If so then a single core would do - try a Celeron 420 at £20 and watch it clock to over 3.4GHz. The 4x0 series celerons are Core2 CPUs and they run very, very fast and clock like demons.

Agreed 100%.

The problem with the 440 is that it's only £10-£15 less than a 2180 and for that I'd take the 2180. At about £20 the 420 is a real bargain I reckon.

They do all pretty much seem to do a 100% overclock though. In a dual or quad-core all the cores have to be stable at the maxuimum overclock, but a single core either is or isn't stable on one core, and the good ones are very, very good indeed.

Sweet sounds a good buy then.

I'm building the PC for my dad ya see and he has set a strict limit of £450 so this will slot in there nicely along with the 3850 pro :)

Cheers
